Why do people continue to think that Klefbolm will be exempt if he is going to be able to resume his hockey career?
It would be buyer beware for Seattle but I don't get the rationale about why Oilers fans think they're just going to get an extra protection slot and then he'll magically be healed and able to re-start his career. If he'll be able to play again, he'll need protection. If his career is actually over the NHL could make him exempt if they didn't want Seattle to be able to take him.
From what I understand is he's missing the shortened season but then will be able to resume his career, so the Oilers will need to protect him or leave him exposed and Seattle can gamble on him. I realize an injury exclusion is a real thing, but you need to understand why that is a real thing and it's not to protect players that will shortly be able to resume their career.
signed.... Sour Jets fan.
P.S. I think your best move is just to protect 8 skaters. Nurse, Klef, Bear, Jones, McDavid, Drai, Poolparty & Yamamoto.
Nuge is probably leaving as a UFA, or can re-sign after the expansion draft. Everyone else seems really replaceable to me.
