Fredrik Claesson a signé un contrat de 1 ans d'une valeur de 700 000 $ avec les Sharks de San Jose, le 10 janv. 2021. Le contrat comporte un cap hit de 700 000 $.
STEADY FREDDY! Stick him with Erik immediately, and you're playing with house money. Those two were so good together when Claesson was actually used. I still think he's an NHL player, it's just that Guy Boucher was an idiot and Claesson wasn't 6'7 like Ben Harpur.

This is very obvious that SJ is concerned about Simek's injury being long term. Unfortunately the coaches are dead set on a Vlasic-Karlsson pair even though Ferraro clearly deserves a chance. Was Claesson really that good with Erik?

He definitely played above his level playing with Karlsson, but they looked really solid together and from an analytical perspective, he was the only LD in 17-18 outside of a young Thomas Chabot who made Karlsson better, not worse. Basically every other Dman he saw time with dragged him down.
He got screwed pretty hard by Guy Boucher. He was clearly the best option, but Boucher consistently went with a string of way worse options like Washed up Jonny Oduya, Washed up Dion Phaneuf (tho I still love Dion), Ben Harpur who has never been good, and even Mark Borowiecki (who was fine, but wasn't nearly as good then as he is now.)

That’s Good to hear. I completely forgot Karl and him played together in OTT. Definitely makes this signing more understandable. Hoping he proves his worth and steps up to the occasion this year!
I was hoping the Devils would re-sign him. He looked excellent during his 5 game stint at the end of last season. I guess that idea vanished when Vatanen was re-signed last week. Good for him, though.
