No way to know if Klefbom will ever really recover from that injury. A 100% healthy Kelfbom and I think I'd take this deal, but it's just too risky, so Detroit declines.

That Lyubushkin contract is ridiculous, as is the Yamamoto contract. PLD got $5M x 2, no way Yamamoto gets anywhere near that considering the flat cap and that he doesn't have arb rights. Look at Bear's deal - that's the kind of thing you should expect for Yamamoto if they go the bridge route.

I agree Detroit isn't trading Mantha and Edmonton isn't trading Bear. You really hit the nail on the head when you said "Haven't Oilers fans learned anything form the past decade?" Holland prefers players to over ripen in the minors and by doing that it gives the player the best chance of succeeding. Being a Detroit fan I can say this approach works very well.
