I think you are giving up a bit much for Meier without drastically improving the team. The lineup basically stays the same except you gave KK a winger equivalent to Tatar in terms of production.

They key is getting rid of Byron contract... take a look at the long-term outlook... this trade actually works out fine! Worst case scenario, we don't resign Armia

Byron can still be a decent player and we already know we aren’t resigning Armia. plus we aren’t trading Caufield

we can move byron for a hell of a lot cheaper than that, we have plenty of b prospect and picks to package together for a rebuilding team to consider. This trade not only makes the habs worse in the future it also defeats the purpose of trying to win now, i'm not a fan of byron's contract but if the habs want to compete they will need their depth especially if the schedule is condensed, then can move byron in the offseason package a a few picks with him and move on.
