Description
1. Ladd's knees are shot, and it was only a matter of time before Lou Lamoriello put him on Robidas Island. One of the reasons I think the Isles haven't made a lot of moves is because they're waiting for the LTIR window to open up for Ladd, and possibly a few other players.

2. Boychuk makes half of what Kesler makes, and Boychuk can still play. It's a no brainer for the Ducks to go for. Kesler goes on LTIR for the Isles.

3. Devils aren't going to keep Palmieri longterm and they need depth. Getting a prospect and a 1st rounder is the key tot he deal. Isles only do this if they get Palmieri on a long term extension, though. Frees up roster space on both teams, and is cap neutral for the most part.

4. The LTIR allows the Isles to sign Barzal- he might acutally come in higher than the $8.5 AAV- and bring back Greene, Brassard, and Martin.

5. This also gives the Isles time to work with their prospects in the AHL and beyond. I don't think Wahlstrom or Koivula is ready, and we have no idea what Ho-Sang is really capable of- but I think they'll come up as injury replacements during the season. Also, I think Bode Wilde needs to play a full (AHL) season before I can make any prognostications.

I should also add that Greene and Martin will have a series of 1 year contracts with the Isles as long as they want to play and Trotz wants them.

Ryan Kesler has stated numerous times that he's not waiving his NMC, He'll just finish it out there in Anaheim.

It's just the contract, not him. He's not playing anymore. It'd also help Anaheim financially. And he said that in 2019. It'll be nearly 2 years since then.

he would still have to waive is nmc, which he does not want to do.

How does getting Boychuk help the ducks financially again? Keslers contract will be covered by insurance (80% I believe) and Boychuk is owed 4 million the next two ( 2,750,00 was paid off for this season)
If you want to dump Boychuk i figure you need to add first and prospect.

Didn't Ladd just play in game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final?

You need medical to back up going on LTIR and as far as I can tell from his tic toks he still intends to play. You can put him in the minors but hoping to put him on LTIR just isn't going to happen IMO.

don't think its possible to just be placed on LTIR, especially when you played a playoff game just last year.

also, I don't actually think the ducks do that. Kesler is already on LTIR for the rest of his contract and Boychuk wouldn't be, gives them less cap space to work with if they need it.

Why would Boychuk waive his NMC to go from NYI to Anaheim???
Most players who have earned their contract and NMC would rather play for a contender than go to a rebuilding team.

Kesler's contract is 80-90% insured. Yes, it's a no brainer for the Ducks, only the answer is no.

Isles better hope that Ladd is long term certified "unfit" therefore LTIR. But has Lenny7 pointed out above and a few others....Kesler is insured LTIR also, so taking Boychuk is financial and cap hit for the Ducks if such a trade was made.

Sorry, Isles fans....M NTC 6m Boychuk looks like he finishes his contract as a Isle.

He wasn't good in the playoffs at all. His knees are legit shot and he can't really push it. Also, this is Lou Lamoriello we're talking about here. He's got Robidas Island for a reason.

I've heard the weather is better. Also, he'd have the option of going to the AHL or playing in the NHL for Anaheim.

Oh Sorry I think I didn’t explain myself properly. I was making a point that the Kessler contract is cheaper than Boychuks due to insurance paying most of it.
So the ducks wouldn’t be taking on more money and cap space for a third rounder.
Also he has an 8 team no trade, so he could be moved to most places. I was just saying Anaheim wouldn’t help the cap situation unless your looking at getting a first back along with a prospect.
