He's not a bad player, but Ottawa doesn't need to add more veteran presence in the bottom six. They have C.Brown, Tierney, Watson and Anisimov. What they need, if they're looking to add a vet forward Is someone who can be a driver of offense at the top of the lineup to support the young players there. The only proven top six forward they have is Brady Tkachuk, then you're mostly projecting the top two lines to be primarily composed of guys with fewer than 50 NHL games, which could work, it's a lot to ask for a handful of rookies to be responsible for all of a team's offense like that.
It would make way more sense for Ottawa to try and add a guy like Granlund, or even a Dadonov if he'd take a 1 year deal. The Sens were allegedly willing to give some real money to Toffoli, so if they could convince someone to take the Taylor Hall route and come to Ottawa, pad the stats for a year and then cash in next year in a better market for free agency, they would be better off doing that.
