  1. Chiasson, Alex
Détails additionnels:
I think Edmonton needs dMan cause Klefbom injury. Bear and Bouchard will be good offensive defenders in 2 years and they have Nurse as a defensive dMan. Russell and Larsson have 1 year left on their contracts whereas Moore has more years and is also cheaper. Edmonton has lots of same type of forwards as Chiasson who also has only one year left on his contract.
EDM
  1. Moore, John
  2. Choix de 5e ronde en 2021 (BOS)
Détails additionnels:
Chiasson would be good fit to Boston bottom 6 forwards. He has only one year left on his contract but I think his value won´t raise a lot. Also Krejci has only one year left and he is 35 next year so I think with Coyle in their team they might not resign him. Boston also has some young prospects on their dMan so losing Moore doesn´t hurt them that much

looks good. EDM and others will tear you part for the trade but whatever. no need to sign cehlarik or JFK. Both are playing overseas.

Problem. You won’t get Grizz for that little.

Cehlarik signed for 2 years in Sweden.

Yup, zero chance Edmonton does this. We can get better defensemen in free agency for less.

Okay, I removed Cehlarik and Forsbacka Karlsson. How much do you think that Krug and Grzelcyk would cost to Boston?

There's noway Don Sweeney is offering Torey Krug that much, He pretty much made his final offer to him at 6 years $39 mil and Krug turned it down.

Don’t be so sure. Have not traded his rights. Better option than giving up assets to acquire OEL who is same age, 8 x 8.25, and is not good defensively. Might as well give Krug what he wants at that point.

Hope he does, He'll only live up to that contract for another 2 or 3 years and then start tailing off. If Rask gets dealt why would he even want to come back?

I don’t want either Krug at that or OEL, but if it’s one or the other....

This trade would need to add retention on Moore down to 2.15m and give a better sweetener for the extra years. Like next years 3rd.

Nah. Edmonton has a bunch of high-end LHD coming and Klefbom will be back in 2021 even if he proceeds with surgery. We need a guy on a 1 year deal or a UFA willing to sign one.

You are missing the expansion draft. UFA, or Benning need to be signed for 2 years or get Moore fills that requirement unless you plan on exposing Jones. Which UFA do you think you can get for under 2M that's better then Moore?

Most of them. I don't like Moore even a little bit - highly sheltered and poor results. I have no problem signing Benning to a 2-year deal - especially if that drops his AAV to around $1.5M as some have suggested - but I don't think that alters the expansion plan at all.

Personally I think the best move for Edmonton is just not move russell. Obviously not ideal replacement for klef but 5-5 he can hold his own on second pair to start the season and see how jones progresses. Best moves are often times the ones avoid making. Bear can get a look on pp or not against getting a look at the bouch bomb either. Internal solution to this problem. I just worry if make a panic move to replace klef term will get handed out and that I want to see avoided at all costs. One thing that does bother the heck out of me with this klef news is why didn’t they look at doing something back in March? When the season was in question playoffs were a huge uncertainty? Even if wait those few months to play those couple play in games I think the last game was aug 8.... we are in October now. Obviously this is a chronic issue will require significant surgery but it doesn’t add up to why still seeking opinions that should be long passed answered. I have no idea for sure but to me it’s suggesting this surgery could be career threatening which is the only reason I can see that it’s taking this long to get answers.

I agree about the timing - its a little curious to say the least. But I wasn't thinking of getting a guy to replace Klefbom entirely as that would be too expensive; I like your idea of Bear / Bouchard getting Klef's PP time, Benning / new guy getting Klef's PK time, and having the 5v5 time shared around a bit. Jones should be able to take on a bit more 5v5 time... what about a veteran guy like Andy Greene? He can still play top-4 and at 37 isn't going to expect term. He'd come in cheaper (cap hit) than Russell, which would allow Holland to move Rusty if that option exists. Ron Hainsey or Ben Hutton could work out too.

Unlike most I really do like Russell. In my opinion his contributions won’t be fully seen on any stat sheet but are real. Very similar to Hendricks was he will come up with a big block and get the guys on the bench fired up. Next shift while he’s shaking it off on the bench see momentum shift because of it. Those are components I personally hold value on. It will never show up on a stat sheet but how many times have we seen him block a shot and within 5 minutes suddenly game is back to even with oilers applying pressure. Another huge reason I’m fully on board with keeping him is no matter what he’s done getting paid in this league the flat cap pandemic completely took any small chance he had away. If we offered him league min deals one year at a time until he felt like calling it quits would he say no? He loves Alberta by all accounts I’ve heard he’s one of the most likes people in the dressing room everyone loves him. Just to keep him around as a mentor for Bouchard and broberg I honestly can’t think of anyone better. Plays with heart more than willing to sacrifice himself even when it’s completely not needed he’s willing. I’d have the time of day for Andy for sure just not sure would be interested if it required moving russell to work. That idk
