I've never heard the argument that Panarin is a top 4 player. If McDavid & MacKinnon are the top 2, then are you saying all but one of the following are worse than Panarin: Eichel, Ovechkin, Crosby, Malkin, Kucherov, Matthews, Kane? This is ignoring goalies & dmen too. I'm not sure Panarin is even a top 10 player when you include them.

I'll give you that he was 3rd in Hart voting this year, but the only other time he's even been considered was 2017-18 when he was 14th. So best case in 2018-19 was 23rd place. Average the last 3 years (3, 23*, 14) and he's the 13th best player on average over the last 3 years.

Panarin advanced analytics since he entered the league are phenomenal he’s amazing offensively, and responsible in his own zone, he’s got great transition numbers, he is one of the best play drivers in the league and he is an all around superstar. My personal top 4 players in the league rn are mac,mcd,kuch, bread man.
I don’t think signing him to such a long term high pay contact was smart tho, he will be well worth it the first 4 years but for the rest of the contract it will be a Tavares situation, great player just not worth the money he’s making.

You're changing your argument. You went from top 4 player in the league to best LW. Being the best player at your position doesn't make you a top 4 player in the league. Being the best LW doesn't mean that the top 5 C/RW/D/G aren't better.

I have no idea how many points he scored, not going off that. You're going off your opinion, whereas Hart voting goes off of league executive opinions. You can also reference the NHLPA Player Poll which doesn't rank him top 4 in anything.

Also, you contradicted yourself. You said he's not worth the money he makes, but if you consider the top paid players in the league by cap hit, the 4th highest paid is $11.5M. So that means he's worth at least $11.5M, and his $11.6M meets that. So if he's a top 4 player, wouldn't you say he's worth his top 4 pay? Personally, I don't think he's worth that money as he's not a top 4 player, but UFA market will drive anybody's salary up.

Crazy trades are ones that include less common players that make sense for both sides.
