Obviously Domi is not an elite elite talent like Laine, but he would be perfect behind Schiefle as a centermen. could put up 60-70 points with good wingers.

Honestly any Laine trade that doesnt cost one of Romanov, Caufield, Suzuki or kotkaniemi is a straight win for the Habs

Which is why laines price is likely too high for MTL as one of them would have to be included or there’s no chance they make a deal.

That scares me, Idk how we go from reports of his price being ridiculously high to him getting moved for Toews and Domi.

I hope he’s not moved, cause if the package is lacklustre I’m telling you the city will burn, people will be calling for chevys head.

Montreal needs to stick to players they can realistically afford. Trade Domi for Saad, or offer Kovalchuk or Ryan some big dollars. Those are the kind of deals Montreal should be looking at.

The only thing i can possibly think of is the owner telling chevy that he doesnt want to pay Laine his next contract of 10 million plus. But even that would only be if he is suffering loses across the board with his business and wants to lower pay roll entirely which doesnt seem to be the case , so ya, pretty baffling

Reports this morning I seen were

Domi + Kulak + juulsen\Fleury + 1st 2020 (if required) (Pat Hickey and Darren Dregger)

or

2 1st's + top 4 D (that one was Eklund so take with a grain of salt)

Plus, our ownership isn’t lacking for money, not sure how much David Thompson is actually involved but he owns True North Sports and Entertainment. He’s got loads of money to put into the Jets, also, we have high prices and we’ve had complete sellouts for years and years. I think the organization is doing okay, we’re not quite in a spot like Florida or Arizona. I just can’t believe what’s being thrown around right now, like there’s absolutely 0 reason for them to rush a trade.

See even that I don’t like, Jets need quality. Unless it’s a severe overpay, Jets fans won’t be happy. If it was Domi + Chiarot + 2 1sts I’d be interested. Still don’t know if that’s what they need though. They realistically need a 2C and top 4 RHD. I think Domi is a low end 2C, idk I think if Jets play hardball on the trade front it would benefit them a lot. Put Laine with Connor and Scheifele and just pad the fu*k out of his stats so his trade value rises.

Exactly, he is the richest owner in the league, has never shy about paying guys but for some reason Laine is getting moved out. In the end they have to get a 2C, top 4 dmen who is young and a high pick for him for Jets fans not to lose thier s*** and thats not whats being reported, it would concern me to

Like, I get that you can’t please everyone, I also don’t think they’re afraid of paying Laine. I think they’re just worried about the negotiations, he’d have to take 7 or 8 years at 9-9.5m and both sides should be happy with that. But if he’s moved, it has to be a top 4 dman and top
C prospect or a 2c and top d prospect for it to be worth it.

problem for the Jets is they can't afford to padd the f*** out of his stats before trading him. What if they do that and then he signs an OS like he said he was willing to before then they lose him for less than the offer of Domi + Kulak + Juulsen\Fleury + 2020 1st? Say they do pad his stats then Montreal OS him and gives up 4 1sts starting in 2021. Montreal could end up being serious contenders by the if Caufield, Romanov, Suzuki and Kotkaniemi hit their ceilings. Now those 4 1sts ar 20th or lower. I sure wouldn't want to take that gamble on a guy who has made it publicly known he is not opposed to signing an OS.

I meant like play him with them and trade him before the deadline, or at the next draft before he has a chance to get OS’d.

I don't think you would get as much at the deadline or draft considering he would be months from RFA status and again has said he would sign an OS. Your best bet would be make it known he is on the market and hope for a bidding war. Otherwise take what you can get before he hits RFA status.

Domi is better than saad. saad is a ufa next season, we can take a lot at him at that time. idk if we should bring back kovy. where are you gonna play him?
