What needs to be added? Depends. If its just about making the value equal on both sides, probably a 1st rounder or Demko, etc im not sure TBH. If its about realism, why would Boston even enteetain moving Carlo in the first place? Obviously barring silly overpayment that no GM would offer.

Honestly its less about him being a super top premium value player and more about a player that is worth more to that organization than elsewhere. Similar to Gallagher in MTL. Hes worth more to MTL than what theyd realistically get in return for him.

All very true. I've just seen a fair number of ACGM's recently with Carlo being traded; some by BOS fans and some by others.

Well i cant speak for all fans. Just my take. Like I said, unless a team is willing to pay more than what IMO hes worth, then yeah trade him. A fair value trade for him though is kind of pointless in my opinion. I wouldn't even bother. Virtanen and Stecher alone wouldnt cut it. Boeser might make worth my while. But then again, i dont think hes worth Boeser. See my conundrum?

For me hes worth what DeBrusk is, maybe a touch more. They're per 60 numbers at 5v5 over the last 3 years is nearly identical.

The title of my post implies that VAN would be adding to the deal if BOS liked Virtanen and Stecher as two of the pieces going their way, so I’m not implying my trade is of equal value. I’ve read rumors on a couple sites that the B’s have interest in JV, so the trade idea is an expansion of that.

The thing you have to understand is where the bruins are as an organization. Is this a team in flux looking to trade a major piece for a bunch of futures? No. Is this a team lacking any depth that’s willing to downgrade to get a bunch of pieces to balance their roster? No. Is this a team that is in absolutely dire straits in regards to the cap, looking to ditch salary? No.

The premise of this trade is flawed, as it completely ignores what Boston is trying to do: which is, improve their team via premier talent to compliment their first line, their top two stud d men (one of which you are trading for here), and depth.

So go ahead and add all you want. Until you either pony up boeser or overpay so much in terms of raw value (like, adding three firsts or something nuts), there would be zero incentive for Don Sweeney to even return the call.

I see where we’re far apart in our understanding here. I see Carlo as a solid 2nd pair, defensive guy while you see him as a core, top 2 stud. I defer to you as the Bruins fan, maybe I’m way off on my evaluation of the guy. I didn’t realize he was viewed that way by the Bruins faithful.

I don’t know the motives of Bruins management. I was expanding on other trade ideas I saw on this site by other fans, including Bruins fans.
