The only thing I disagree with is the term on those contracts. I know they might not sign in Detroit otherwise but I wouldn’t want to be stuck with those guys when they regress in a couple years

i agree but i just went with what i think theyd get in the open market. But maybe try giving Haula, Krug, Markstrom 1 less year than i gave them

I wouldn't touch vesey, he's not good,

Markstrom too old for our rebuild

Krug too much money and for too long

Haula is fine if it was 3 years at 4M

Pretty good thoughts on the lineup though I tend to agree with redwingfan04 above about the term. Add a short term veteran Dman...even better.

Yeah but we will just be turning it around at that point, it's pointless right now to pay him, we can get a bandaid for a few years. Or if we trade for demko/dipietro, or something else like that.
I wouldn't go above 3 years and honestly, I rather have the cap space.

Signings like this is how we got into cap trouble in the first place, this is the first year we are not under the gun in over 10 years because of Holland's crappy cap management. Im not ready at this time to be cap hurt to rush the rebuild. At this time the cap space is a weapon to take bad contracts off of other teams to gain assets. By 2022 we can start filtering in vets and big signings like these. No need to rush the rebuild at this time

I’m not opposed to spending money on goaltending, I’d be happy to have Markström. Being much stronger in net would be very beneficial to helping the team develop in front, and buy us more time to figure out a future #1 hopefully thru draft and development. Prefer the deal to be 5 years. Not sure he’d sign with Detroit but maybe if that’s the highest bid. Either way, Detroit being linked to Markström only adds pressure on Vancouver to make roster decisions, maybe that’s what Markström’s camp is trying to do.

Not interested in any of the other UFA signings, I think they are all unwise moves for Detroit. And RFA’s Timashov and Ehn need signed, they are likely to be playing for Red Wings in depth roles next season.

Krug will likely get 7 yrs, 8 million per. And yes, Dekeyser sucks.

It looks more and more likely krug signing is for real. Dekeyser isn't terrible but hes more like a 4, 5 dman whos just had to play too big a role since weve been so barren on the blue line. Plus dude is made of glass. Haula is gonna help but hes not a solution for that 2nd center. Id rather keep the cash and wait and see what happens.

He hasn’t been on the ice enough the last two seasons to play bad. When healthy he’s a capable 5-7 defenseman on a decent team. He’s massively overpaid for what he is. Every team has got one. Hopefully he stays healthy so he can play out his contract at a serviceable level bc he’s a good guy.

Pretty succinct summary. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to find out he just goes on LTIR after his back issues this year.

I think DK not being an NHL player is a bit harsh. Part of the problem is he is (along with most the team), plays above their level. So hes probably a 3-4 Dman, but forced to play top line minutes and against players top players. So if he was correctly slotted, it would help.

I would disagree with the he's 'garbage'. He's been injury prone the past few season, that's more my issue. Can't stay healthy.

"No" to Bowey, just "no." Hickets or McIlrath would be a better choice if the team gets desperate.

Huala would be a good signing if the term and cap hit were right. Markstrom is a good signing. Krug may demand a 7 year deal but I sure hope Yzerman doesn't offer it.
