Canes don’t have the cap space for Marner

If that is the trade you better bet they'd make space

No I don’t think I would. The trade would result in the canes ruining the depth they have built for years. The result would also be not being able to resign Hamilton. The right side of the canes defense would be totally gutted. While you could make space, yes, I think the cost of making the space isn’t worth marner. Cap not being considered of course I do the deal marner is a great players who has already been paid half the contract. The issue is the cap hit on marner is so high it destroys the salary structure of any team he is moved too

Carolina can't afford to add Marner, They'll need cap space next summer for Andrei Svechnikov.

EDIT: just scrapped that deal and replaced it with a Marner for Seth Jones kind of deal instead.

Columbus can’t afford Marner... the retaining would be the other way, Toronto retaining on Marner. (Columbus still couldn’t afford this long term).

And also, no thank you to trading Seth for Marner.
