Description
Thought process: I aimed at building a team that can contend from 2022. Therefore I traded Danault and Tatar, both upcoming UFAs that I wouldn't sign long term after the season. I think it's best to trade them both before the 20-21 season to maximize their value. Koivu can take on Danault's defensive responsabilities and cover for Suzuki and Kotkaniemi.

its not a bad trade but dallas says no. robertson has tons of potential and they need money to resign miro. i also dont see them moving comeau out with him being a leader in the locker room.

Edmonton declines we aren’t taking on cap and if we where it wouldn’t be for a guy that’s got a bad contract and can’t stay in the lineup over 50% of the time, no ones taking that contract without the same bad contract going back to Montreal.

Fair enough, although Miro only has to sign for the 21-22 season. I thought that Dallas might want to maximize their current window by adding to their forward group, as they could use some extra offence and they are pretty thin on LW. I know Robertson has a lot of potential but it will take at least 2-3 years before he's as good as Tatar, and by then Dallas probably isn't a contender anymore.

Stars pass. Even if Tatar was extended. We need our young group of JRob, Dell, Oetter, and Harley moving forward in a cap world. Especially if we keep paying Seguin big money to float around coughing up the puck

Meier is one of those players who are worth more to the team than his actual value. I don't see the the Sharks parting with him.

Even his actual value is much higher than a rental 3c, a second and a third

Agreed. Danault could be a 2c though.

You can say that's not enough, but you should read correctly before commenting, as it's stated that Danault would have an extension in place... and he could EASILY be a 2nd line center.

Great, hes 27. Dont much care if we get the joy of overpaying for the next 7 years. Doesnt factor into our decision when trading our 23 year old first line PWF
