If ada wants only 2.9 the rangers keep him, try adding 2 or even 3m to that number, on top of that, it’ll need a bigger return to get rangers to consider

Doubt it, Connor is the worst out of the three. Can't produce unless he's stapled to Scheifele.

well as the rule for qualifying is 120% of previous AAV, he would only need to be qualified to ~1.52 million. Plus a lot of people who comment on posts here seem to forget that COVID is gonna drive down every player contract this summer whose name isn't Pietrangelo. Ada isn't getting his 5 million this summer. I like the deal (and not even from my biased Habs perspective). Gives the NYR a 4/5 defensemen signed for 2 more seasons and 2 second round picks in the DEEP draft this year, and they retain that 14 MILLION in cap space to go after anyone in offersheet they want. Maybe they target TBL for Cirelli, maybe they go after the NYI for Barzal. Opens a lot of possibilities for the team.

I think Conner would get traded for Danault, young winger with term and very solid defensively, plus 2 first round picks, 2 second round picks and a fourth.

Sakic isn't one to trade 1st round picks. I doubt he does it for rental Tatar.

Well CBA rules you can't include conditions on picks anymore but I've seen a lot worse players go for a lot more. Plus playing with Mack, probably a good chance Tatar wants to sign an extension in COL.

I like Tatar and think he'd be a good fit on our 2nd line. But again, unlikely that Sakic moves a 1st for him given his history of never moving 1st's. Especially since there will be a lot of great deals to be had this offseason in UFA or via trades due to the flat cap and this being a buyers market. We're going to need all the ELC talent we can get from 2023 onwards, so this pick is pretty important.

I mean, the jets organization can be pretty dumb, but they can't be that dumb, Ehlers is the only forward on their team not named Copp who is not horrid defensively, he's (quite easily imo) the jets most valuable winger

He has arbitration rights.. he will get at least 4.5m easily for three years

Well Laine’s 2 way game really improved compared to last year so he’s no longer a liability in that department, Conner needs more time, the difference between defence and offence is that defence can be taught.. offence not so much, not a lot of young forwards know good defence, most learn over time and Ehlers is older than those 2
As well as the entire jets forward squad defence numbers look exaggerated cause of us losing our entire defence core (xept Morrissey) last off season
I mean u can’t expect the forwards to provide all the offence and defence at the same time

my list is this in terms of how valuable
Laine (starting doubt if he want to stay, don’t know why his name would be on the block otherwise)
Conner
Ehlers
My preference is to keep all 3 and fix the holes through the draft and FA though, really hope that happens

Laine's 2 way game started ok, but fell off towards the end of the year, he was still well below average, and Connor was a bottom 5 defensive player in the league, yes, defense can be fixed, but probably at the expense of a lot of Connor's offense (that he doesn't even drive anyway) and yes, the teams defense will look terrible, but Connor still had terrible (and Laine not much better) RAPM xGA, which accounts for the fact that nobody plays defense on the team, and that PoMo is probably the worst coach in the league, and while you can't expect them to provide all the offense and defense, I don't think it's too much to ask to not be a liability defensively, especially with the... let's call it lackluster... defense we have

If I had to rank them it'd be
Ehlers (you said it yourself, the defense on the team is terrible, Ehlers can help that, and still chip in at around a PPG if PoMo wasn't a clown, went should we gamble on Laine getting better defensively out of relatively nowhere, or Connor maintaining his S%Ax bender and improving defensively when we already have a very good defensive forward who with Connor's usage could probably get just as many bointz)

Bigish gap
Laine
Smaller gap
Connor
