Description
Let me emphasize here. This is merely a thought exercise for myself. I have zero care if you think "Calgary declines" or something. I do not want your feedback.

If you're interested, here's my thought process.

1.) I challenged myself to do this without moving Nylander or Marner. This is for two reasons. One, Nylander is excellent, probably the best RW on the roster, and the 6.9 devoted to him is anything but an albatross. Two, the Marner is an albatross and I can think of very few teams who can afford him and would give me semi-fair value. But I think what this exercise has taught me is that to sign Pietro the easiest way to afford him is to move one of these two wingers.

2.) I couldn't trade any defensemen, because the defence is still quite poor somehow.

3.) Which mean that I had to move all of the depth wingers. In these trades I tried to get players back, which made it easier to fill out the rest of my depth without having to sign Wayne Simmonds.

4.) The Johnsson trade was solely so I could have Freddy in the system playing goal.

5.) The Andersen trade is close to the rumoured one. It's probably far too steep of a price for Carolina to pay for him, but I really just wanted Jamieson Rees.

The issue I see with your thought process is trying too move out too much cap while taking almost as much back for lesser players.

Honestly, that's probably fair. That's almost certainly the case with the Reimer trade. I might not have to retain on Kerfoot, as well.

But, and this what this exercise has taught me. If you don't trade Nylander or Marner it's very difficult to do it.

If you really dont want feedbacks, make everyone a favor and just don't publish.

Or else you just look like a baby fetching approval but who cant take criticism.

Do you really think the Leafs could retain a mil on Kerfoot? If so, that makes some three way deals I have in mind for Dumba more feasible. Be interested to know why you think they’d retain.

Normally, I do not hit publish...ever. Literally, I think this is the first instance of this happening. I did so so that others from somewhere else could see it. Where I've shared it is where I want the feedback from. I do not want feedback from people who respond to every trade Nylander for Rasmus Andersson trade saying "Calgary passes," no additional information, no reasoning why Calgary passes. I want someone to discuss the though process, or make jokes about Fredrik Nissen Dichow. But thank you for your constructive criticism.

I had no idea who this dude is until like just now, and he's officially my new favourite hockey player. Habs be damned lol.

In hindsight, I don't think that I would retain on Kerfoot. Nor would I have to. As I was creating this, my thinking was that clearing 2.7 without having to take anything back was worth it for me, even if I had to have some dead space.

If anything, I might offer to retain on Johnsson and in turn see if MTL would give me the pick instead. But you could similarly do something similar with Kerfoot and Minnesota and upgrade the picks. Maybe a 2nd and an additional lottery ticket in the late rounds.

Unfortuntely we cant pick and choose who gets to comment on a free forum on the free internet but i think CF has implemented a pretty effective way to deal with this in the future. As long as that person is willing to do the work themselves.

The ignore list.

If people would use this more often, we'd have so much less toxic confrontations. Its a neverending process but eventually you'll get to where 99% of comments are from peoples opinions you trust and respect and non of the X team passes etc, types.

I mean, there's the added element of the fact that I do not participate in these forums. The circles I run in were soliciting everyone's best "how do you fit Pietreangelo onto the roster" submissions, and the only great way to make up rosters is with this tool. But you can't share your rosters unless you hit publish. Thus...

But if I was more determined to actually try and be a part of a community here, I would almost certainly be wielding a ban hammer with great alacrity.

Right, I always assumed Kerfoot needed to be moved for cap so it didn’t make much sense for me. I like Kerfoot a lot but I don’t know if he fits in the lineup with Staal gone. I’ll keep thinking about it.

Interesting. I didn't know that thanks.

I have started realizing that some people give very chill feedback with no attack or insults and it's refreshing.
For instance, I very often say "I would totally pass on that deal, but I recognize that it's fair value, and not overly tilted." That way it's a tip of the hat to the proposal, but my own personal opinion is not mistaken for the overarching and indisputable truth - and we all hate that here lol

The community can only be as good as the effort we put into it. If we all just pitched in a little here and there, reporting users who break the rules and adding users, whose content we don't like or want, to our ignore list, this place could be literally as good as we'd want it to be. Until then got to make the most of it. At the end of the day, this is a free service.
