I've read all the "no way the Coyotes make this trade unless it's for assets" blah blah blah. The simple fact is with COVID Arizona is going to bleed money worse than they already do and are going to need to make moves to compensate for that. Ultimately those deals won't all be moves to make them more competitive right now but rather weather the storm and obtain picks or prospects or players that are cheap in the interim. It's a simple hard truth people aren't willing to actually come to terms with for some reason.

As much as I like Cernak TB doesn’t need another LHD even if he can play the Right side.

yeah we know that Coyotes can only drop to 63M as that's the cap floor and right now they have around 28M in veterans with with 1 year left on their deals they can buy them out or trade and retain and still save money and easily get to their target which is 70M without having to gut Kuemper's value

You are correct, TB needs to move about 12 million dollars that just happens to be all NTC

But Arizona has Raanta and Hill behind Kuemper. And Hill is waiver eligible this year. So are they carrying 3 goalies this whole season then letting Andersen or Raanta walk?

Would it not make more sense for Ari to sell Kuemper to the highest bidder for a picks/prospects package?

Cap floor is based on AAV (cap hit) not actual money spent - swapping Kuemper for Andersen for example gets them 500K closer to the floor while spending 3.5 million less in actual money

every team declines, aside from maybe OTT. Value is fine in that trade but cant see that being the team that makes the trade

No it saves the Coyotes only 2.5M , Kuempers base salary for next season is only 3.5M and from what i heard from Elliott Friedman and our local writer Craig Morgan has said that Kuemper is on the block for assets and they will be able to get a haul for Kuemper and save his full salary and Andersen doesnt do anything for us we already have Raanta and Hill that would be a waste of 1M dollars

I have said it before. The leafs have a better chance of winning the Stanley cup in 2020 then getting Cernak. It’s a horrible trade for Tampa.

I doubt they move Cernak but if they did what do you think the ask would be?

Hope so but if you're worried about money better to have less long term on the books. That said Kuempers money is low compared to OEL

I wonder how disappointing Cernak is with no McDonough or Hedman to his left - meh that's a neat take though, just so we're clear teams aren't lining up to take Johnson, Gourde, and Palat off your hands

A first AND a strong prospect? Hhhhhhwhat? In that case we'll just offer sheet him and give up the 2nd since they clearly won't be able to afford him.
