Parayko to Buf

Description
Buffalo deal gives them an elite top pairing of Dahlin and Parayko. Parayko's shutdown D gives Dahlin more offensive freedom. Blues get a guy with Top 4 potential and a pick to give them another top prospect, hopefully Holtz or Rossi is there at 8.

The Granlund signing is one I've gone back and forth on. He seems to always play well against the Blues and I remember him being a hell of a player with Minnesota. I hope he signs a short deal betting on himself to get a bigger deal when the cap rises again. An alternate could be Galchenyuk or Soderberg, preferibly someone who costs less than 5 mil.

thats fine. we have plenty of issues as a team that trading a 20 year old RHD and the #8 overall pick to still have 5 RHD dont fix.

I think Buffalo would accept, But doubt St Louis has any interest in trading Parayko right now.

Doesn't matter what i think, We can both agree that neither Buffalo nor St Louis are moving their best pieces in this deal.

Neither team wants to do it. Could either end up like the Carter-to-Columbus trade (Philly gets Couturier w/ 8oa and Voracek and wins big) or the Jordan Staal-to-Carolina trade (PIT gets Dumoulin, Sutter, and flops on the 8oa with Pouliot). But Carter had 11(!) yrs of a contract and Staal was a 24 yr old RFA vs 2 yrs of Parayko's contract... BUF has no reason to commit those pieces to 2 yrs of Parayko (it's BUF, he wouldn't stay) and STL has no reason to take on that much risk with a ready-built team. Value-wise, it's impossible to know without (a) seeing who is otb at 8 and (b) seeing what the player taken at 8 does between now and the end of his 2nd contract.

You nailed it.
If Parayko was LHD and Blais a RH RW it would make more sense.
I love Jokiharju, I have seen him do things no other defense has done.
He is developed beyond his age.
But Parayko IS solid, Jokiharju MAY be as good as he some day.
