I don’t think you are getting a second rounder for Pearson he’s 28 only got 1 yr left on his deal coming off 3 yrs of bad production and then has a career yr at 28
Montreal is looking for at least a first rounder thrown in, Jakes coming off a good yr but still battled consistency in his play and attitude problems cancerous player in the dressing room
Why would move your third line centre moving ahead with sutter gone in a yrs time Gaudette the kinda player you need to keep around.

I agree somewhat but I think it’s pretty clear Pearson is a 2nd line LW. He makes less than 4 million and the one year I view as a good thing. Not much of a commitment. Maybe the Canucks need to add a depth prospect to get this over the hump.

For the Montreal trade, the 2nd rounder is 33rd overall, which I think is decent value + Virtanen. Virtanen isn’t cancerous in the room, he just doesn’t have the same work ethic as other players. If he did, he would have a much higher trade value than I’ve put here.

As for Gaudette, I like him a lot, but at the end of the day he’s a 3C. That’s easier replaced than a D-man like Manson. Worth the sacrifice imo

Stetcher and Woo? I like Gaudette, but there's a lot of young forwards coming up in Anaheim that are fairly similar.

Yeah I would Stecher and Woo for Manson. I think that’s all round pretty fair.

Stecher sort of “replaces” Manson short term and woo can maybe fill his role long term

Yeah, that was where my head was at. Also probably clears a mil or so in space to fill another hole.

Pearson played well enough to be a top 6 option this yr but the past 3 yrs we produced at a 3rd line rate, I se this yr as a one-off which hurts his trade value on a cash dump kinda deal a 3rd at best but most likely a 4th for return

Having a bad work ethic and attitude problems at the rink and pour judgement calls out side the rink causes the room to lose respect for him and that makes him cancer to a locker room, think. Evander Kane in Winnipeg
Domi is more of a proven producer and is a centre which makes his value much higher then a winger which is way I think Montreal would want a first added remove the second and add a top prospect

I’m not sure I agree with you about how easy it is to find 3rd line centres lots of teams struggle in that position you have a perfect one know plays on then pp and was brought up thru the system to play the style green wants the nuks to play.

A lot on all of them

Domi was a ppg player a year ago. He's also gonna want 6-7 million. You want to trade a third liner and a 2nd? Keep dreaming

Pearson was terrible and a cap dump until this year. If you can get anything be happy

Manson trade is tough as I depends on valuing Gaudette. I don't know him well enough so I'll defer judging this onr

Why is a rebuilding San Jose paying a 2nd in a good draft for a rental winger?

Yeah I highly doubt San Jose decides to rebuild. Much more likely they try and do a quick retool and then go for it again this season. In which case, Pearson makes a lot of sense to add

They really have no other option, again paying 2nd to a divisional rival for a player that was dealt for Gudbranson 1 for 1 isn’t gonna happen.
