Columbus declines. We've already got a surplus of D, and Poehling isn't the kind of forward we need (top-6 on a contender, preferably a 2C). We'd prefer to use our assets like Murray to acquire what we need.

Kings decline. They aren't giving up a position of need for a position of strength. The return is not attractive.

Value is fair, but I'm not very high on getting rid of our only right-handed forward for Domi. We already have 2 guys who can play center and 2 guys who can play LW

Labanc already agreed to a ridiculously low contract last year to stay in SJ. He will want to get paid what he's worth this time.

Would Mete plus Poehling do the trick? or Josh Brook. I think it would also help the king's age gap.

Kulak is simply to replace the gap from Murray leaving.

I have to agree that CBJ will likely only target their needs. But Murray will likely walk in order to give enough Cap space to Dubois or the Seattle expansion draft. Not sure they will have the luxury of multiple offers and will have to take something before they are left with nothing. Would adding an extra pick be more enticing?

This is a perfect example of why you should never accept futures. Doubt he wants to stay in San Jose after this season. They wont simply just give him more money now cause he did them a solid last year. Same thing with DeAngelo.

What would it take to make this deal happen? Or is it fundamentally flawed with Mete.

No gap. Nutivaara could step right in for Murray. And between Wennberg's buyout and Dubinsky being LTIR, there's plenty of cap space for Dubois, Gavrikov and Anderson. Plus Merzlikins is exempt from the expansion draft, as are Foudy, Texier, Bemstrom, Peeke, Tarasov, and Vehvilainen. We've got no trouble keeping what we need.

I think the Kings are better off keeping him, but you're definitely getting there in terms of value.

I personally think the only thing in the entire MTL organization the Kings would want is Caufield. Not at all saying Walker would fetch that so please don't misunderstand lol.

Is that 4-goals-in-171-games LD Victor Mete for 8-goals-in-109-games RD Sean Walker? We have 3 LDs and only 3 RDs who are NHL-ready. We're not interested.

That's funny because Mete just came off a season where he would have gotten 30 points if the season didnt end on a rebuilding team playing semi-difficult minutes.

    Oh wait, that was Walker.

Mete is ~ 4 years younger and has more potential ... & he was on pace for about 20 points.

More potential to be what exactly? A 20 point shut down guy or a 30 maybe 40 point puck moving two way RD?
