Description
Since the leafs lost to the jackets, they have been shopping players, and have traded Kapanen for a first and a really good center prospect. They fleeeced pittsburgh. I woudnt be surpised if one of Johnson or Kerfoot go in a deal for a defensemen, or a new 3rl ine center, if kerfy goes. Freddie Andersen will be a inteiging peice, if he is traded. He is a top 10-15ish goalie, and whe he plays well, hes top 7. The reason they would trade him would be that he is making $5million, for this last yr on his contract. He might not sign a contract extension, or even resign.

As far as the untouceables, heres is who I wouldnt move. The obvious guys that stay are:
-Auston Matthews ,(he Auston Matthews, what more do i need to say)
-John Tavares, (Hes our captian, and hes still a top 12 center.)
-William Nylander, (23 yr old winger ozing with potential still. hes a 30 goal scorer, and still has yet to reach his full potenial, and hes on an amzing contract for the next 4 yrs.)
-Mitch Marner, (even though he had a terrible playoffs, he still is untouchable, hes still young with lots of potential, is one of th best playmakers in the league. Give him time, hes stiil developing) -The others I wouldnt trade are Rielly amd Muzzin

Next are the prospects that I would not trade. the obvious guys are:
-Robertson (55 goal scorer in joniur, and can become a great player.),
-Sandin (future top pairing defensemen,)
-Timothy Liljegren. (He is an amazing shutdown RHD for the Toronto Marlies [leafs affilate in the AHL] and will become an amzig shutdown defensean that can move the puck. He only 21, with tons of potential. if you are intersested and want to know why I think he is going to be very good, check out @SammyT_51 on Twitter and see his thread on liljegren. )
Do not trade those 3 prospects.

The players that might / will be traded are:
-Johnsson (id keep him this yr, play him to raise his value, then trade him next yr or at the deadline. or trade him now for cap reilef)
-Kerfoot (3.5 mil as a 3rd line center is good, but in a flat cap world, it isnt. )
-Andersen, (is a good goalie, but he might not resign. Get assets whil you can)
-Dermott ( he is a good top 6 defensemen for the leafs, but he needs to be resigned, and would get much playing time. Id package him in deal for a better defensemen)
-Holl (looks like he wil be the leafs 7 dman hehind Reilly, Muzzin, Sandin, Lehtonen, Liljegren, and 2 new defensmen, why have 2 mil sitting in the pressbox, when you can trade him for an impact player on the defense or in the bottom 6.)
-Engvall (leafs have been shoppping him on the trade market, even though he might stay next yr.)

The Leafs are not signing Pietrangelo, so that is off the table.

TOR
  1. Pesce, Brett
  2. Suzuki, Ryan
Détails additionnels:
Leafs get a top 4 dman, with a decent prospect. B4 every one comes at me for saying, "so unrealistic" "canes never do this trade" and anything else. Pesce is injured, and had a down yr. Carolina has so many defensemen, someone has to go, they need to give something up in order to get an upgrade in net. It makes sense for both teams
CAR
  1. Andersen, Frederik
  2. Choix de 4e ronde en 2020 (TOR)
Détails additionnels:
Per Sportsnet's Elliote Friedman, the Canes are very interested in Andersen, and will be willing to trade for him. Mrazek and Reimer arent getting any younger, and they need help in net.

Leafs get a good defensemen for 700k, who is good analytically, and can defend well.

Détails additionnels:
Kings get a young dman, with potential. He can play with doughty on the top pair.

If the leafs cant get pesce for freddy, Then package, Holl, Kerfoot, and a 3rd for Josh mansion from Anahiem. That package was discussed at the trade deadline this yr.

Then trade Freddy to Calgary, the other team most interested in freddy, for Sam bennet and a 2nd. Leafs can then get korpisalo, and Anderson, for johnson, and a 2nd they previously acquired.

The Blue Jackets decline. Johnsson doesn't get us closer to the legit top-6 threats we need (particularly a 2C), and our blue line is already 10-deep, so we don't want Holl. And you've undershot the value on Anderson AND Korpisalo by a considerable amount.

      Welcome to CapFriendly.

You've bitten off quite a lot here. I think over time you'll come to conclude that a lot of these trades are ill-considered.

Andersen is almost two and a half years older than Mrazak, so I don't think the first premise of that trade is well-founded, but even if it were, Carolina isn't trading a cheap top-4 RD with term (4 years) for one year of Andersen, let alone including an A prospect. Toronto would be happy to get a second-round pick for Andersen, believe me. (Look at the Lehner trade this spring.)

Kings wouldn't trade Roy for Dermott even up. Aside from whether one is better than the other, Los Angeles is pretty well set at LD and has only Doughty, Walker and Roy as NHL-capable RDs in the system; LA would have to sign a free agent to take Roy's place. Factor in the three-fold difference in cap hit and that's a No even without the extreme draft pick imbalance.

Were you watching the Columbus series? And the ensuing 5-overtime game? Then you know that the Blue Jackets aren't trading Korpisalo, especially for cheap spare parts.

Anaheim's price for Josh Manson is Timothy Liljegren and your 2020 second.

A deal involving Pesce for Andersen makes sense for both sides but Suzuki would be too much. Likely Toronto adds a prospect and a pick and Carolina sends some salary to Toronto that they can flip but both team fill big needs with it

Personally I'd throw him in a deal with Andersen to get Pesce. I wasn't thrilled with his game when he played a bit but he still has untapped potential. I recommend:

      Toronto Maple Leafs
      Pesce
      Reimer

      Carolina Hurricanes
Andersen (potentially with extension depending when deal is made)
      Liljegren
Toronto 4th or 5th round pick

Something similar to the deal the Canes and Flames made seems to make a ton of sense to me

Pesce's overhyped on here. He's coming off a season in which most of his numbers were down (regular stats and analytics) and he suffered a majored injury. The reality is that whether or not people on here like to admit it or not, his value isn't that high for what he provides and it's a bit lower right now. Seems like people on here hype him up because he happened to be a right handed d-man that Toronto inquired about. That's the only reason

I saw a kid playing with little confidence, that will change in a hurry. I also saw a video breakdown of his play on YouTube. Have to say I was really impressed. Lot of things get missed when you are following an entire game. Even though I was trying to single out Lilly and Sandin. His ability to see rate players from the puck and transition the other way is actually very high.

As for your trade... if canes think pesces injury will affect his play they may bite. I just don’t see it.

Idk, I've followed him closely and even in the AHL he never blew me away. Seems to be just an average d-man. Probably all the hype of how good he was supposed to be pushed me off him. Just don't ever see him being more than a #4 guy, maybe a #3 and those are easier to find than people think. I'd cash in on his value while he's still young

Schneider is the guy I would draft there, for sure, but you'll probably have a choice of RWs Seth Jarvis, Dawson Mercer and Jack Quinn and Cs Dylan Holloway and Connor Zary there. This'll be a great draft.

& Canes fans are delusional if they think Pesce starts with Nylander. If they wanted Nylander moved they woulda moved him when he had his contract talks stalled. But Leafs made it clear they weren't moving Nylander for less than Slavin. If it was Nylander for Pesce, it's Pesce plus more. Nylander's play is on the rise while Pesce's was down and he was injured. That doesn't get you a Nylander

Oh I agree, he is insanely overhyped on here. That being said, he is a young top 4 rhd on a good contract with term.

Andersen May be worth a bit more than a 2nd. Liljegren and a 4th May not make up the difference. Even with taking reimer back.

Pesce numbers were down because he was stuck with Gardiner for most of the year. I just dont understand how you can overvalue Anderson that much to think his value is near 4 more years of Pesce at 4 mil. I do not even want the Canes to trade Pesce

Canes can just get an upgrade in free agency and don’t have to give up a single asset to do so
