LMAO now your argument is that the stats the that disprove your claim are subjective. Your bias is showing! Claiming he is a turnover machine then having absolutely no supporting stats, while possession matrices (54.3, 51.2, 54.6, 55.8 and 58.5) and Giveaway stats all disprove your "eye test" proves that you have no clue what you are talking about.

Give away/take away stats tell maybe 1/2 the story. Players like Domi and Zucker make a ton of teeny tiny mistakes every game that create advantages for the other team - and none of these are accounted for in fancy stats. This is why fancy stats AND eyes are needed to truly assess a player...also why I’m glad Zucker is gone and why I want nothing to fo with Domi.

The stats prove you are wrong, you CLAIM that Domi is a turnover machine, you say he makes bad decisions with the puck but you can't prove it cause all of the stats prove otherwise. When called out you say the stats are subjective instead of admitting your bias. Stats prove you are wrong admit it and move on.

How exactly am I biased? I don't have any ill will towards the Habs, so quit acting like I do. There's no right or wrong here. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Not really sure what this guy's problem is, but I don't think he can be reasoned with. He has the mindset that we're out to kill Domi.

As someone who works in data analytics for a profession, you're absolutely right that stats don't always tell the full story.

Ok first off I used advanced stats to prove him wrong. He just didn't like it.

Second I never said anything about Zucker. Like not even once.

Third using the eye test Domi is not as bad as he is made out to be either. Perhaps he turns the puck over more than say Tatar, Gallagher, Danault, Suzuki, Kotkaniemi and Armia but he does not turn it over 2-3 times a game like the other guy claimed if that was true he would be benched every game or demoted to the AHL or press box like Hudon. CJ would not put up with that many errors in a season from a top 6 guy.

LMAO there is a right and wrong here. You have NO supporting evidence to back up YOUR claim that Domi is a turnover machine while the stats PROVE he is not! You obviously have some sort of bias against Domi as you make unfounded claims against him that you cannot prove.

I’m talking a out the 2-3 breakout passes he makes every game for the opposition when his shot attempts sail high and wide... This doesn’t show up in any fancy stats, but it was a very common occurrence with Zucker and he drove me completely nuts going do!

If missing a shot causes a breakout, than your defense is doing a horrible job.

right now you can make a case that it’s an overpay for KK, but Habs easily decline.

I think this best describes right now what this past playoff performance has done for Kotkaniemi:

“ Some Canadiens fans might argue that their other young center, Nick Suzuki, is more worthy of this honor, and he surely had an impact, especially offensively as the series progressed. But give me the player who posted an incredible 74.24 percent expected goals for percentage in 10 playoff games, the one who at 20 wasn’t just holding up physically against the best that Pittsburgh and Philadelphia had to offer — he was straight-up outmuscling them.

The scoring touch still needs to come around fully. But Montreal has something really special on its hands here.”

That segment came from an article on The Athletic on who’s the closest to stardom’s from the PHI v MTL series, and what’s written isn’t from a MTL writer. It’s from the beat writer for the Flyers, Charlie O’Connor.

Im talking about the high and wide shots that ring around the glass and end up in the neutral zone and often creating an odd man rush going the other way. A pairing of Bobby Orr and Niklas Lidstrom couldn’t even do anything about it.

I have shot many of puck high and wide, and never had a single one end up in the neutral zone and I can hit a puck rather decently.
Even on lively boards that doesn't happen. When a puck hit's the walls or glass it takes all the momentum out. There is no magical wrapping around the rink. Not only do they absorb the hit, but the puck is frozen so it doesn't really bounce.

So I think you are a bit over dramatic here and like to pin things on a guy that really has nothing to do with him.
Furthermore, if your defense can't get back from the puck hitting the back wall they must be slow as hell. Which is another reason I simply don't buy this.
Breakouts in the NHL are rare when defense plays well. It is only when defense men jump up into plays where you really see this occur anymore. Defense men today are so fast you aren't going to fast break on them without 2 guys being back.

Well, using my "eye test" to watch Domi at every game for the last 2 years, he definitly IS a turnover machine this year. Always trying to shoot through defence legs instead of using his wingers. Poor passes behind the player when he does. I just think he plays selfish because he is a contract year. The talent is there to be a top 6 center, as he proved last year, but he still lacks maturity.

Also, turnovers are not accurate or "advanced stats". They are counted by the same guy that looks for bodychecks lol.

I was not referring to turn overs as advanced stats I was referring to Corsi for. I get why that was thought though.

I will admit his shot selection is horrible often shooting through players and passing behind or in a players sķates like you said. I really wasn't thinking about them as turnovers though. I was more thinking of straight up turnovers ie intercepted passes, having his pocket picked things like that. Which doesn't happen much. He definitely has the skill to be a top 6 center and you may be right about his selfishness as it is his contract year. I hope that was not his intention cause if it was it majorly backfired LOL.

@MNBassman @TanSor

I apologize if that was what you meant by turnover machine like I replied above I was not thinking about them as turnovers more just hockey plays due to lower hockey IQ

No worries at all - it was a good discussion.

I, for one, do not want players who lack processor speed like Domi. Players like him are momentum killers!
