leafs fans value Willy higher than Lafreniere so they're probably gonna come after you for that even though it's pretty fair IMO and I'm not a fan of either team

I think they take an offensive hit with the trade of Nylander for Domi, but Domi brings a little edge to his game at times and Mete can help their blue line. This also helps TOR with their cap issues a little. Probably saves them 3M$

Yeah I like the Nylander trade also,(although I would then try to flip him for Laine) Why Mete would be valuable to TO is cost, about 2x3y.

A hawks fan chirping another fan base about over valuing their players is rich as hell

So the leafs get the worse winger, a lhd that they dont need at all and cap space that would be useful if they filled it with a better player.....like Nylander.

Mete can play the right side even if he’s a LH shot. He could blossom on a TOR team full of offensive players. He would become one of your best skaters on the team (at least top 3-4) and a stop gap fix on the right side.

This trade doesn’t make you a winner, but it makes you better by adding blue line depth and cap flexibility while taking a hit of 5-20 pts depending on the seasons Domi/Nylander have.

FYI: Domi has had a 70 pts season, Nylander hasn’t. Plus, Domi did it on a team that lacks offensive punch (he never had Gallagher & Tatar when he did it).

The cap flexibility gives you a chance to go after Pietrangelo.

Any non-playoff team (picking top 15) giving up a first for Drouin? Didn’t think so.

Any playoff team giving up a first for Drouin? No, because they are up against the cap and have better players than Drouin already.

Best case scenario, Drouin gets you an early 2nd round pick.

You're high off your ass if you think Bergevin gives Drouin up for a 2nd round pick. I'm not high on the guy but he is a 50 point skilled winger on a somewhat cheap deal, easily get more then a lone 2nd rounder for him

At the time it wasnt a horrible deal but what's happened to Drouin since then makes it look worst.

Drouin is overpaid for what he brings, but if he can be had for the NYI 2nd that's a hard to trade to decline. It will really depend on what else OTT has in mind for the draft and off-season. Obviously Duclair could be signed for far less than Drouin too, which could mean Drouin is outside of Ottawa's top 6 and he has to move back to his mom's basement while he sits out the season waiting to be traded.
SO MUCH to think about...

In a reply to me you’re telling me I’m “high” for a second rd pick... in another reply you’re saying the deal looks worst...

It’s like you can’t decide the value of Drouin. He’s not a first line player. If Drouin is on your first line, you’re not a good offensive team. Second line players don’t get 1st round picks.

Except the leafs dont need a lhd that can the right side. They have dermott. And 3 mill in cap space isnt close to worth the downgrade

TOR has 4.5 in cap space going into next season. They won’t improve their group of d-men with that kind of cap space. Nylander will need to be dealt. This deal makes their d-group better, and that’s before signing Pietrangelo

Value might be close, but it doesn't interest the Leafs. Leafs have Mete on the roster right now - his name is Travis Dermott.

Leafs don't need Pietrangelo to play with Rielly, they need a half decent No. 4 dman, and therefore they don't need to move Nylander.
