Need more Jack Johnsons

Description
Angry at all the analytics computer boys and dumb fans, Jim Rutherford has decided to double down on the Jack Johnson experiment.

Rasmus Ristoleinen - Basically young Jack Johnson. Terrible on ice impact, zero hockey sense, and got some points on the power play.

Erik Gudbranson - Large defenseman drafted 3rd overall like Jack who doesn't fit the modern NHL.

Cody Ceci - Analytics whipping boy who is also defended by his GM, though to a less insane degree. Does hilariously bad things when he has the puck on his stick.

Jonathan Ericsson - By any metric, he can't play anymore. Jim will prove all the metrics wrong.

Nikita Zaitsev - Russian Jack Johnson

this is either:
1- GMJR trying to raise the value of JJ. if he sat in the interview and said he sucked, it would only hurt his trade value further
2- GMJR absolutely has no idea what he's doing regarding JJ. GMJR has MANY times moved guys quickly after he acquired them: brassard, Perron, Pearson, reaves, Hunwick, Kahun, Gudbranson, etc... so its not like he's worried about saving face. Ill give Rutherford credit, when one of his experiments don't work out, he doesn't waste any time and moves on from them. He cuts his loses. Johnson is arguably his biggest mistake and I would be absolutely baffled if he doesn't move on from this one.

Problem is that he doesn't recognize it's a mistake. He's doubled down on what he's said since day one. And Sullivan is on board too. Look at his ice time in the series against Montreal.

It’s actually funny because he has. He and Fowler were the ducks best pair last season. 50.5% corsi 99 PDO with 57.7% stone starts. Not the best dman in the world but at least a serviceable NHL dman.

I honestly wonder if Crosby has anything to do with this. If Sid told management he doesn't want his best friend Jack Johnson traded, that might be a reason

Traded is one thing. Getting as much ice time as Sid in an elimination game is a whole other issue and points to coaching.

Oh he's definitely a serviceable d-man its just I'm happy we got rid of his contract. Marino basically cost him his job

As a ducks fan getting him for a 7th and watching him allow Fowler have his best year in a long time makes it worth it too.

Then we should trade him too. Ok I’m joking. I don’t mind Crosby having input, but having that much input is a bit concerning. Cause apparently he has a lot of input of who gets put on his line, which is why we don’t see Hornqvist on the line as much and why Guentzel went back to Crosby over Malkin.

He is 8 years younger, I'm not worried. He might become just as bad later on in his career but as of right now he is a top 4 D

You know, the thing with GMJR is that he’s able to admit when things aren’t working out with most players. But for Jack, I’ve never seen a GM defend a player to this extent. This is why I don’t buy into the GM sweet talk narrative, just doesn’t seem like they have any intention to get him out of the lineup.

He has a negative impact on his team when he's on the ice. Him playing a lot of minutes is a bad thing.

I agree he shouldn't play that much but who else would we play for 25+ mins? Now Dahlin is ready to take the brunt of it and Joki is coming along but before them it was either Risto, Bogosian, or Gorges to take those mins

Literally anyone else. He should have been traded years ago.
