attempting to fix the leafs

Description
Weegar was solid under Qunivllie (played on the top pairing) and Flordia has a lot of salary cap tied up in Ekblad and Stralman on the right side and they have many ufa frowards to sign so Kerfoot can help fill those holes as a middle six forward. Dermott had to go back to make the trade worth considering for the panthers.
Montour didn't fit in on the Sabers and they need secondary scoring.
Thornton and Perry add some physcial play and hopefully depth scoring.
Also signed Zac Rinaldo for when we face boston. Hopefully his suspensions are over for the next Boston game.

I made a post last week about TOR moving Johansson + 3rd (which they acquire in another trade) for Montour and got an earfull for it.
Half the BUF fanbase dont think Montour will get tendered, the other half think hes this stud defensive corner-piece lol.

Weegar doesnt move the needle at all though

Montour is to taking less money than he currently makes and sabres have enough LHW, they would want kappy.

I would even take Bracco. I think he could do some damage playing with Eichel.

lol if Bracco could really do damage playing with an elite center I think the Leafs would have tried him with Matthews or Tavares by now

Yea, I've heard that Montour may not get tendered but I can't see it happening. Sabers gave up to much for him to let him walk for nothing. If he plays the way he did on the Ducks I think he'd be a realistic upgrade for the leafs.
I see Weegar as a risk for the leafs since he only had the one good season but if plays the way he did this year on TOR then he's an upgrade to Ceci.

I agree, but I value Kappy more then Johansson and wouldn't trade him for Montour.

The price was the price. Buffalo doesn't gain anything by him resigning in relation to the deal. That would imply that Montour personally owes them term from the deal. If the player doesn't resign before the deal is done them resigning has nothing to do with the price. That's why the players wanted it in the rules that teams can't place conditions on deals that involve them resigning.

I think Kerfoot is one of the pieces that needs to stay in Toronto.
He's quite useful at the 3rd C spot. I don't think Thornton has enough in him to play 82 games a season (or a condensed version of 50 games this season), let alone 3c minutes.

All I was trying to say is that I wouldn't trade Kapanen for Montour. In terms of his value I see conflicting opinions on Montour, I made this trade assuming that the rumors of Sabers managment not valuing Montour to much are ture.

Yea this team wouldn't have great centre depth but I feel it would be a more balanced defence. If worse comes to worse maybe Nylander as 3rd C and Barabanov in the top 9.
