Chicago says no to Toronto and Arizona . Yes to buffalo.

Toronto trade scares me because we aren’t ready to compete, are giving up a core piece for a two year rental with no team control, and giving up our best defensive d-man for a guy who isn’t known to play defense. Also, I guess Mikheyev is there, but he doesn’t balance out the value.

We have Ian Mitchell coming in, so no need to Block his path with an expensive veteran and lose a third round pick.

Not sure what the point of the De Haan for Goligoski thing is, CDH is younger, cheaper, arguably better and can play the right side if absolutely necessary. But I understand that's not really the point of the post lol.

I don't want to trade DeBrincat, both emotionally and in trying to be objective. He'll probably bounce back next season with 30-35 goals and if we doesn't, we can talk then. Rielly is cool but he's still more of an offensive defenseman more than anything else and Chicago is working hard to develop the guys we've already got in Boqvist and Mitchell. I'd rather just wait and let them come into their own.

Goligoski is just for 1 year if Mitchell needs some AHL time. If not start him on the 2nd pair lol and dont make that trade

DeHaan isn’t worth a 3rd, you’ll take a fourth rounder or fifth and like it for your cap dump.

Other teams would take him for a third.

Other teams can’t afford to take on your cap dump in the first place. Supply means nothing if there is no demand. You take what someone will give you, there aren’t going to be many buyers.

1. There will certainly be enough “Buyers” to get De Hann at the price of a third round pick. He is an immediate upgrade to your defense, so I’m not sure why you are complaining about the price.

2. It literally isn’t even the point of the post and you are coming in here telling us that we will get a low ball offer for DeHann and be happy about it. Get real.

Go ahead and take a look at the financial landscape. 20 to 25 teams need to move money out, only the others can actually afford to take it on. If he were so valuable to you they wouldn’t trade him in the first place. The reality is you need to lose the money, and so does just about everybody else. I think you’ll see a lot of low ball trades this off-season from teams needing to drop cap to teams that are willing to take it on. Last year we saw Carolina get a first round pick in return for buying out 1 year of Marleau. While the return may not be so expensive you’re going to see more deals like that. At the very least you’re going to see teams get a player for less than fair value because of how much he makes.
