Basically what they did for the Anderson trade years ago, grab a UFA goalie u think can be a starter and sign him top 4-5 years at reasonable $

But why does Pittsburgh do it? And couldn’t you just sign Freddy to an extension?

I think the belief is Freddie is gonna want too much on an extension $wise, for me the problem is exactly what u asked, why would Pit do this? the answer is I think they dont , not unless Dubas sweetens the pot with something

Kypryos tweeted about it. it has some weight. Also noted that Matt Murray played for Keefe and Dubas back in the Soo. Not saying its going to happen, but its a possibility forsure

tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy a 1st and a 2nd for Johnsson! More like a 3rd and a 4th

Also I could see a world where Toronto decides they've gone as far as Freddy can take them, and pick Matt Murray as the guy they want going forward. That said, there's no world where it makes sense for Pittsburgh to do this deal whatsoever. They're trading Murray because they have Jarry, why would they take Andersen? Even if they flip Andersen, that package is just going to be worse than what they could get for Murray in the first place.

Lol the same Kypreos who tweeted that Shea Weber had a season ending, career threatening injury, only for him to miss like 3 games loo. Guy has no credibility anymore as an "insider"

yeah I remember that. he was clearly given misinformation on that one, however, I remember vividly back in 2015, Kypreos broke kessel to Pittsburgh before anyone else. I find he's usually pretty good. everyone gets misinformation from time to time
