Can't see Zona moving Keller just after signing him into an 8-year deal tbh, even if the value is sufficient.

Why are you trading a winger for a winger when one has a far higher upside, potential, and the other one makes more short term which is the time we need to save money? Debrincat is flat out better than Keller.

I'm also in shock that you **** on Francouz, but you're ok signing Georgiev for more.

I also don't know in what world you're gonna get Kubalik for only 5m. You also expect Nylander on the second line??? Did we not watch the same player or have a discussion literally less than an hour ago talking about him as a player? He got scratched multiple times because he sucked. This roster doesn't upgrade anything at all. It weakens our D at the cost of dropping Debrincat, paying more than market for a backup goalie, and a weak 4th line.

If you’re gonna trade debrincat for financial security in Keller, then why would the coyotes make that trade 1 for 1 when they’re giving up the security? Only reason is because they view Debrincat to be the better player, as someone has alluded to already in the 2017 Columbus trade debacle. Kubalik needs more money, and if you really want a goalie that hasn’t shown he can carry the load then I guess georgiev will suffice.

It's ungodly ridiculous. The Coyotes have no reason to make this trade unless as you said they view Debrincat as better. In 2 to 3 years they can afford to pay more - this hurts the team short term when they need $. I also don't see Keller as long term better than Debrincat despite the down year.

Kubalik definitely needs more money being over a PPG in the playoffs, potting 55 points adjusted for an 82 game season 35+ goals in his rookie season, leading the league in g/60, being only 24, and playing in Chicago where taxes are sky high. There's no way Kubalik signs that cheaply.

I also agree - this dude crapped all over Francouz not being ready to start, but he's perfectly ok with the equally backup Georgiev at an even higher cap. Dude is a clown. (Not to mention he signed the highest 3rd line in the league cap wise)

This swap and the Panarin for Saad trade have almost nothing in common, The raw talent level of the players in this deal are dead even, and this deal ensures that we do not have to offer Debrincat a 9 million dollar + qualifying offer shortly after resigning Dach and Boqvist. This also allows us to not worry about having space to sign Debrincat when Kane, Toews, (Keith if he can still move), Mitchell, Strome, and any other core pieces we need new contracts.

I have concerns about the RW position after Kane eventually starts to slow down, and I think Keller can eventually be a suitable replacement for him.

I think Arizona does this deal because Debrincat is a pure goal scorer while Keller is more of a playmaking wing/center. I think they probably need Debrincat more than Keller with the centers and wingers they currently have.

Keller Takes the torch from Kane
Debrincat takes the torch from Kessel.
If you're into that sort of thing.

You guys are completely off base to suggest Kubalik is getting more then $4m or $5M on a short 2 year agreement after ONE season. Name a player that got that kind of money after only one season. There isn't one, which is why Kubalik bets on his ability to repeat his performance for another year or 2, and the Hawks buy themselves insurance in case he doesn't repeat that performance for a year or two. Kubalik will sign a 1 or 2 year deal under $5M.

Regarding Debrincat, he is for sure the better player over Keller I agree with that. This is not great value even if you are looking to spend $600K more per year then Cat short term to get long term financial security with Keller, still doesn't make sense.

Arizona easily does this deal, while the Hawks should not. Keller can't hold Kane's jock strap, it's more like Keller being the eventual replacement for Saad (his numbers are similar) versus Kane. Being such a huge Nylander fan, surprised you don't think he's going to carry the torch after Kane passes it along! smile

Didn’t panarin get 2 years at $6 mil average after one season of high level play? This is when the salary cap was $73 million and not the $81.5 it will be this upcoming year. So I don’t see it being ridiculous that kubalik gets 2 years for $5-$5.5 million average. You can talk about how ridiculous a strome trade for Francouz is, but Strome’s trade value is lowering with every game that Colliton shows him the bench (a recurring theme this playoffs). So why not use him to get a goalie to replace Crawford as starter at a much more affordable number?
