I think that your marquee trade suffers from the economic reality of Florida wanting to cut salary (not necessarily cap). Ekblad is owed $35 million over the last five years of his contract and so is Marner (effectively), but only if Toronto pays his massive $14.3 million signing bonus for 2020-2021. This trade makes on-ice sense but Florida wouldn't do it, in my opinion, even then.
