A non-Edmonton fan thinks he can fix the oilers Lol

Description
Just for fun. Don’t kill me. Lol. Maybe someone who knows the oilers better than me can fix it. Oilers clearly need a shake up. They have a couple really good big pieces, but really bad small pieces around Mac, Draisaitl and RNH. Gotta sacrifice some superstars to get the proper pieces . I’m not overly familiar with the oilers prospects so if I miss someone. Sorry. And I’m not really sure of what they would get signed for either. So just guessing.

I'd rather have Chiasson than Kassian for NYI, but EDM needs to take Hickey so we can afford it.

The big mistake (other than the NYR trade)

Is trading larsson for a 4th he has more value than that.

Larsson starts with kapanen or Kerfoot

Sens charge more to take Russell. You're insane for trading Draisaitl lol you're never gonna win that trade. Larsson has more value than that. Using Nuge to dump Neal is kinda sad. I think the play is to keep the big three forwards together and just wait for the young defensemen to develop. Hopefully they can find better support pieces in FA by just throwing one year deals at players until one of them hits.

Rfa signings.
Idk if AA earned an extension if so that’s more term than I’d expect to see in it.
Bear I could see being around double the money.
Mantha is done
Benning will be more but not much that’s fairly close.
Ufa
Sheahan I doubt resigns at this point but maybe likely looking at another half million.
Affording the rest is going to get tougher after
Trades.
Leon and nuge arent going anywhere
Russell doesn’t actually carry negative value this site considers everyone that gets a pay check but not on highlight reels as negative value it’s kinda out of control.
Kass hasn’t played a game yet under his new extension holland sign to so trading him seems unlikely.
That’s selling incredibly low on larsson.

Yah I couldn’t remember russel and Larson and their value. I really do believe though that having 3 number 1 centres are a bad thing in a weird way. I think people in their proper positions gives a team more chemistry. Think of all the superstars/potential superstars Edmonton has had
Hall, RNH, Eberle, Macdavid, Draisaitl, Puuljarvi, Yakapov,
Too much talent. Not enough character. They need better role players. In my Draisaitl trade, you get a first line LW to play with Mac and number 1 goalie (something they haven’t had in a long time) and a proper 2nd line Center with a huge upside.

Please stop spreading this have to pay to take decent players stuff haha. Russell doesn’t carry any negative value he is actually very good value considering he’s only owed 1.5 million. Realistically for a vet like him almost every single team would be interested in adding for depth if can fit.

The Sens aren't interested in losing assets to acquire vets though, the only reason they should be interested in big contract players is to acquire assets for taking them off the hands of cap-strapped teams. If another team has 4mil to spare and is willing to give up an asset for Russell that's fine, trade him to them. I agree he probably has some value to a team that needs a reliable veteran and has a little cap room. The Sens should be using their cap space as leverage to acquire assets though, not alleviating other teams' stress for no reason, so if he's getting traded there it's likely Edmonton looked for a partner and nobody's interested, so they go to the Sens because they need to dump him. Maybe people should think a little harder about a team that could use him and would be willing to make a deal like this instead of just defaulting to the Sens will solve all our problems for free mentality.

Draisaitl is the best performance per dollar in the league, why would they move him in any capacity, theirs no argument for it

Well i do agree bad trade destination for reasons you pointed out also very curious why people think he would waive for Ottawa at this stage of his career when he likes it in Alberta.

I just picked Ottawa at random. No reason behind it.

No doubt you are right. Draisaitl is better than any of those players I traded him for. But do you want the best players or the best team. Only one gets you a cup.
Not saying of course that my trade is perfect or even good. But the having the best players philosophy is what is wrong with Edmonton. And they won’t win the cup until they adopt a have them best team philosophy. Toronto is in the same boat.

Usually great players that hamper teams, hamper them with their contracts. Edmonton barely makes up the offensive difference between 2 guys so your only net positive a goalie, which Edmonton can address in free agency
