You’re completely forgetting the top 4 d man in his prime, adam Larsson, who the jets undoubtedly need. He’s also a lot cheaper than most free agency options. Samorukov likely becomes a top 6 d man soon too, with a ceiling higher than what Larsson is right now. Puljujarvi isn’t garbage either, don’t act like he didn’t put up above a point per game overseas. That equates to roughly 40 points in 82 games, from a 22 year old. Arguably worth an early 2nd round pick or late 1st. Neal is a big part of the trade, and might be why the jets decline. Has to happen for salary reasons though, maybe the jets pull out their pick and swap it for a lower one to make it work? They’ll likely be buying out neal anyways for only 2 million/ year.
Larsson is a UFA, if he doesn't want to be a Jet past the one season he was a rental so no thanks.
Samorukov does look good but the Jets have Morrissey long term and LHD prospects knocking on the door in Heinola and Samberg along with a few more in another year or two plus this ufa class is full of dmen, I like Samorukov but not sure he really adds anything the Jets don't already have.
That's a HUGE stretch to think what Pulujarvi did in Finland is automatically going to equate to being a half point player in the Nhl now.. Lol
Neal is still serviceable but he's a cap dump and a buyout of almost $2M for SIX seasons when the cap will be flat for at least two of them is a tough pill to swallow, no thanks on that.
The 1st is nice but it's likely a mid to early 20s pick and you want a 2020 2nd from the Jets so it negates the value for Winnipeg, sorry but when I add all this up in just don't think it's good for the Jets, they're trading the most sure thing in the deal for short term help, a cap dump and question marks, I'd hope Chevy would pass on this.
The Jets offense came almost entirely from their top 5 forwards this season and Ehlers was a huge part of that, can't trade him for this sorry.
