Other than the 1st there isn't a single piece the Jets need or would want. Plus you're trying to stick the Jets with an expensive 3 year cap dump and not offering any compensation for taking him. No thanks from Winnipeg.

Thats not good for the Jets, they'd decline that.
Islanders are pretty set on D, they're not trading Beauvillier for Nurse.
Can't see those other teams needing those depth players.

It doesn’t matter where the players go for most of these trades besides the ehlers trade, it’s just an example

You’re completely forgetting the top 4 d man in his prime, adam Larsson, who the jets undoubtedly need. He’s also a lot cheaper than most free agency options. Samorukov likely becomes a top 6 d man soon too, with a ceiling higher than what Larsson is right now. Puljujarvi isn’t garbage either, don’t act like he didn’t put up above a point per game overseas. That equates to roughly 40 points in 82 games, from a 22 year old. Arguably worth an early 2nd round pick or late 1st. Neal is a big part of the trade, and might be why the jets decline. Has to happen for salary reasons though, maybe the jets pull out their pick and swap it for a lower one to make it work? They’ll likely be buying out neal anyways for only 2 million/ year.

Larsson is a UFA, if he doesn't want to be a Jet past the one season he was a rental so no thanks.
Samorukov does look good but the Jets have Morrissey long term and LHD prospects knocking on the door in Heinola and Samberg along with a few more in another year or two plus this ufa class is full of dmen, I like Samorukov but not sure he really adds anything the Jets don't already have.
That's a HUGE stretch to think what Pulujarvi did in Finland is automatically going to equate to being a half point player in the Nhl now.. Lol
Neal is still serviceable but he's a cap dump and a buyout of almost $2M for SIX seasons when the cap will be flat for at least two of them is a tough pill to swallow, no thanks on that.
The 1st is nice but it's likely a mid to early 20s pick and you want a 2020 2nd from the Jets so it negates the value for Winnipeg, sorry but when I add all this up in just don't think it's good for the Jets, they're trading the most sure thing in the deal for short term help, a cap dump and question marks, I'd hope Chevy would pass on this.
The Jets offense came almost entirely from their top 5 forwards this season and Ehlers was a huge part of that, can't trade him for this sorry.

I completely disagree on JP, but you bring some good points here. Maybe the jets take out the 2nd for a much lower pick, but I think this package is pretty even at worst for Winnipeg. Between the 1st, Samorukov, and JP, that’s potential for 3 key pieces to a future jets team, and at least one of those pieces is guaranteed to be part of a great future jets team. Neal is obviously just a cap dump, but look at Winnipeg’s cap situation, they don’t have anyone to pay until the cap goes up. they’ll be fine, and even if Larsson is a one year rental, it would still be worth it for the jets.

I agree. There isn't a single thing (other than the 1st) in that offer that really helps the Jets, or comes close to negating the effects of losing Ehlers. Plus the Jets are under no obligation to save the Oilers from poor cap management, so Neal is an absolute no as we can't afford any dead cap space.

We'd be trading a player that could possibly be used to fix holes in our lineup and instead taking a bunch of stuff we don't need and not plugging any holes with this deal.

They've got Laine, Pionk and Copp to pay next summer, a few smaller rfa's that'll take a bit of cap this offseason whenever it happens and they've got holes to fill this offseason which is going to eat up cap space, they don't have that much to work with really unless they want to be average at best again.. 😃

I think it'd need to be the Oilers 2020 1st and/or Larsson extended for it to be considered, obviously that's the Oilers 2020 1st if they don't get the 1st overall pick but if they get that pick there's no need for them to make this trade.

If you want a moose like Ehlers think in terms of your 2020 first (assuming it's not first overall, of course), your namesake and one of Bear or Bouchard.

Not even close. Ehlers is an elite winger. Nurse is a top 4 D and the 1st would be what, 12th OA or something? Ehlers would be an 80 point player with McDavid
