Imagine CAR gets a top 15 to take $6.25M in extra cap that they had left over. Wow. Good work by em.

Dude Pietrangelo and Drysdale on the right side is a million times better than what we currently have. We can live without selfish Marner and his overpaid contract. Should never have given that much for a winger

The "hometown discount" for Petro is probably 9mil.

Marner is someone who can put up 100 points, and probably will in a year or two, who's 23 years old. He is definitely worth a 2nd overall draft pick lol not to mention they are taking Brown's bad contract.

Tavares could of had 13 elsewhere, or so it was reported, and took two less to come home. I don't see why Pietrangelo can't do the same

Yeah but Pietrangelo at 7.25 would be like if Tavares had signed for like 9.5

lol I don't think so. Market value for Pietrangelo is most likely you're "hometown discount" at 9. So 7.25 look about right.

Are you high? How is Johnsson not worth at least a 2nd and a 3rd? The guy can produce over 40 points a season, and would of done it this year if he were not injured and if the season wouldn't of been shortened.

He was on pace for a huge 15 goals this season and 40 points...for a guy that plays next to Matthews or JT with Marner or Nylander on the other wing...not impressive; also considering he got 57% offensive zone starts. Now, if you dig deeper and look at his advanced stats away from Matthews, he's simply not very good...in fact his stats are bad away from Matthews...not worth his $3.4M cap hit that's for sure. Then add to it, he's coming off of a season ending knee injury that required surgery...not easy to come back from. No, Johnsson is not worth a 2nd and a 3rd.

Brown's contract isn't bad. Ever since Sutter got fired, Brown has been earning every dollar of that contract.

Kings pass on this one. They'll take Byfield or Stutzle and enjoy the 3 years of production at entry level salary before they have to give them real contracts. They're at the height of their rebuild now, there's no reason to spend 8-figures on another player while they still expect to miss the playoffs for another season or two.

I think you don't realize that 40 points on the Leafs is equivalent to 30 points on most other teams in the league that actually play defense.

Bunch of hogwash this is, sure he plays with Matthews and Nylander, but he still only averages 15 and a half minutes a game when the other two can go upwards of 18-20 minutes. 40 points is 40 points there's no getting around it. 15 1/2 minutes a game at 40 points is great stats. I also traded him to Colorado. Plenty of star power there too that he can play with and produce those numbers.

Maybe. You bring up good points. Hard to say they are at the height of a rebuild when they still have guys like Kopitar, Doughty, Quick in the line up. Marner would give those guys and the team a few more solid years at contending if you ask me. It would allow the prospects to not be rushed either.

C'mon man isn't a guy coming off major knee surgery (probably to repair his PCL based on the return time-line) worth the hugely inflated premium of a fan knowing about how back and knee injuries derail even superstar careers. And pay no attention to the fact the guy will be playing with less cartilage so his discomfort over the next year alone will cause a significant drop in expected production...just trade based on what he was before this significant injury and assume his healing goes superbly.

His recovery must be going great if it's already being reported he was practicing with the team before the playoffs

Even if he gets to 97% of what he was there is a significant chance for re-injury alone making a trade for him a risky bet. Then there's the shortened career and time spent on IR you have to worry about because swelling occurred/injection is necessary.

Now add in the fact that Toronto is up on the cap and other GM's know it and it will significantly reduce his value.

A portion of practice where he can make minimal movements....doesn't prove anything. Recovery time for a PCL is 6.5-13 months and because of the nature of the surgery people experience less pain but never fully recover.

You make it sound like Johnsson is 40 years old. He's still a 25 year old kid; a trained professional athlete getting the best possible care imaginable. He'll be fine. There's so many offensively challenged teams in the league that one will bite for that price. I don't see why the Leafs being up against the cap would decrease his value. Dubas wouldn't be dumping him. There's a market for players like Johnsson.

Again, 15 goals is nothing great ESPECIALLY when playing with Matthews and Nylander. Again, look at his advanced stats away from Matthews and Nylander...they simply aren't good. You can call it hogwash, but plenty of wingers would do extremely well playing with those guys and plenty of wingers not carrying a $3.4M cap hit and not coming off of a big knee surgery. Sorry, the fact of the matter is, he's not worth a 2nd and 3rd...pull up his advanced stats and prove me wrong otherwise but "hogwash" isn't a good argument nor is his time on ice.
