Overhaul on Defense and restock the cupboards

Description
Went a little trade happy but why not.

Trade with Toronto gives them a cheap rhd for next season and prospect.

Trade with Ottawa Perrault should see more opportunity and should get a 3rd or 4th back at the deadline. Stanley is the sweetener, second pick coming back to wpg is debatable ideally a 3rd.

Trade with Edmonton addresses two of their needs and helps with the Jets expansion draft protection list. Prospects coming back would be what I'd like but debatable

Trade with Montreal, know we just signed him but Samberg should be able to step into the line up on the left side, a 4th for Lowry isn't bad for a luxury that they can fit in. Would have rather sent Niku but believe on his upside. If not possible trade lowry elsewhere and keep Samberg.

Overall Center and Defense is improved. Three scoring lines and a decent 4th line and 3 solid defense pairings.

Ideally Seattle selects Little in the expansion draft and everything fits next season, if not moving him should create the necessary space. Can see Seattle picking one of the four defensive signings over Appleton or Harkins if its one of those two. A defensman gets traded and Niku gets his shot.

the leafs do not need bottom pairing defenders simply because they are right handed. they need top four defenders. Poolman isnt even a good bottom pairing guy, he's awful and Green is just a throw in.

Not going to argue that but can the leafs afford it. He played on the top pairing with Morrissey in his first full season did quite well. Put up twice the points of Ceci and he's only costing 750k, I'd say that's exactly what they'll be looking for unless the move Nylander or Kappenen won't be getting one in trade. The picks are low to coming to the jets

it's not about affording it, it's about not needing it. It's just pointless for them. If the leafs want crappy low rent RD they can get them without giving picks up for them.

Does my eyes deceive me or did you just ask for a top 10 pick in exchange for a bottom 6 center with a bad contract and an B+/A- prospect. Do you really think the Habs would prefer having Samberg and Lowry than one of Raymond/Holtz/Perfertti/Rossi/Askarov/Lundell/Sanderson/Quinn?

i always see Edmundson contracts thrown around on here but honestly he is not very good. whoever signs him to a contract like that is gonna regret it.

Lmao. If you watched a single jets game this year in which poolman was playing, you would know that he played top pairing minutes until JoMo got injured. He wasn’t great, but he held his own and wasn’t brutal. He is a very good #5 defensemen and I would even make the case that he is a good #4. All that was in his first year in the nhl. I think he will be even better next year. Oh yeah, and bottom pairing guys don’t typically score 20+ pts on a full season, so there’s that too.

The jets would likely want more for poolman. At least a 3rd has to be coming back. I don’t think they trade poolman anyway, the guy played very well in his first year. He will only be better next year. I think he is a #4 d-man going forward.
