Still DET won’t give you a 2nd to get rid of Johnsson, keep him then

Yeah and that same season AA had 30 goals. So what is your point. Detroit isn't giving up a 2nd for a Johnsson who had 1 good season and is now making $3.4M a season.

I think if Det only had one 2nd they would not do it. But after having such a bad season, adding a decent middle six player for a 2nd, who is on a relatively reasonable contract (depending on what the market sets now with a flat cap) is a way to add to your organization. At some point that top line of Bertuzzi-Larkin-Mantha is going to want some talent to help them out. AJ probably has the ability to be a .5 ppg player over the life of the contract. Though I would not quibble if that 2nd became a 3rd.

Maybe Det doesnt want AJ specifically but after SY had a lot of players come up from the Syracuse Crunch onto Tamp I think he may value that AJ was a playoff MVP for a Calder Cup team.

Robertson makes the team? Average AHLer Agostino in the top 12? Gagner suddenly a good NHLer? Two many questions at forward, just to sign Brodie

Even if fair value is a 2nd, I don't think it would make sense for the rebuilding Wings to give up a 2nd round pick regardless of how many we have.

In most Johnsson trades I've seen him valued at a 3rd. I'd probably do it for a 3rd if the Wings aren't able to acquire a different fringe top 6 forward from free agency or another trade.

lol when you're 25 and 2 years in the league nobody cares about what you did in the AHL 3 years ago. Makes no sense for the rebuilding redwings who are probably going to be a bottom 5 team again to spend futures on this guy. When the leafs were rebuilding would you have wanted them to trade their 2nd round picks for a 2nd/3rd line winger? I bet the answer is no, and if it isn't, it should be

Detroit says no thanks on Johnsson, Reportedly the only Leaf player Detroit has interest in is Kasperi Kapanen. And no freaking way Brodie signs that garbage offer.
