Pass on Cirelli if it costs Norris. That's a nonstarter. Also if Hamonic was willing to come to Ottawa, no way am I trading for Montour. Rather keep Reilly as the 7th D and Play Zub.

Vancouver is trying to shed cap in order to afford EP & Hughes in 2021 so I’m sure they’ll shoot this right down.

Is Norris that good? Cirelli was pretty awesome this season plus he's a Canadian. He's only 1 year older than Norris.

Hamonic might take a 1 year deal. He had a pretty terrible season and this could boost his value.

They also need a RHD and do save money for EP and Hughes by doing this deal.

Norris just had a fantastic rookie season. He's going to be really good. You don't trade him. The reason that Logan Brown is a viable trade piece is because of how good Norris has been.

Brown and Tierny got way to big of contracts.

Formenton is starting in the AHL

No point in trading for Montour and signing Hamonic

Why do you need Brown and Norris if you have Cirelli? Isn't Cirelli basically the player we want Brown or Norris to become.

I don't think you need to trade Norris to get Cirelli. I also think Trading for Cirelli makes more sense if Ottawa wasn't getting a C in the top 5. They're basically guaranteed one of Stutzle or Byfield at 3rd, and I think they have their 2nd line C in house with Brown or Norris.

1C - Byfield or Stutzle
2C - Cirelli
3C - Tierney

That's what I envisioned anyway. We might even pick up Rossi at #5 though.

I see Norris and Brown as 3C options. I don't see them as 2Cs for a cup winner.

I think Norris could be the 2C as soon as next year. I think he's a complete player, with David Krejci upside. Their respective AHL rookie seasons compare shockingly well to one another. Both had 31 goals (Norris in 56 games and Krejci in 68), and were both 1.08 points per game. I think he will be a good 2C who benefits from playing with Tkachuk for a long time.

Also Chris Tierney isn't a guy I consider a part of the long term future in Ottawa. I'd be surprised if he's a Senator after next year, If he isn't traded this offseason. He's not going to be a better 3C of the future than White or Logan Brown.

If a team offers a 1st for him sure I'd let him go but I wouldn't trade him for a guy like Montour. He has a lot more value than that even if you don't see him as part of the long term solution. He's one of the best 3Cs in the league and played the 2C position behind Pageau well this season.

Sens have White, Brown, Norris, Pinto and probably Stutzle/Byfield and could very well take Rossi 5th. Tierney is definitely expendable long term.

As soon as 2021-22 I have trouble seeing where he fits in. Assuming Byfield/Stutzle should be ready by then (I don't think that's unreasonable), one of Norris or Brown will be ready, and you'll have White who is a better player and younger too. Tierney would be expensive as a 4C, and it would be a waste of a good trade asset to have him playing 4th line minutes.

If we draft Byfield and Rossi; Tierney, White, Norris, Brown and Pinto are all expendable. We will have our top 2 centers locked up for the next decade...

Tierney is tradeable as long as you think Norris, Brown and White are capable of being solid 2Cs. But as of right now Tierney is a very solid 3C and is the best of the bunch.

True but they can buy out Eriksson next year for significant savings and it wont cost 4.5 for 4 more years... pass from VAN would rather pay a 1st to dump than take back Zaitsev

Fair enough.

I doubt the RHD Vancouver brings in will be that much cheaper than Zaitsev though whereas they already have cheap replacements for Eriksson.
