Your willing to give up 8th OVA for a guy that is 2 years younger than Domi, has never put up more than 57 points and has played center his whole career not to mention adding both Montour and Pilot! And many won't give up just the 8th for Domi, be prepared to get your *** chewed off. BTW I think your giving up too much you could probably have Don Strome + Pulit for 8th and the value would be there IMO

I wasn't against it I was just saying your about to get chewed out for giving up too much! I think Strome + Pulit = Domi = 8th OVA so not a horrible trade just one price too many IMO

Think that's an overpayment for strome.

That third line is gonna get eaten alive.

Really, a 28 year old backup with 5 career games?

How is that third line going to get eaten alive. May as well give up on Cozens and Mitts now. I know its hard to believe that players can come from the AHL and be NHL players. I doubt Boyle will even be available as a free agent and may cost more

Carpenter might be the perfect veteran forward to ease rookies into the NHL, I'm not sure you want to have both Mitt”s and Cozens on that line, but Carpy can handle the defensive responsibilitys while the kids learn.

He can take faceoffs too, and is a great PK’er.

He'd immediately be the best PK forward on Buffalo, who was sank by their PK this season. Mitts has 2 years experience and would be moved to a less stressful position where he can be more creative and show his skill. As for Cozens, he cant go to the AHL (we may not even have an AHL next season) and hes learned all he can in juniors, if he cant handle the 3rd line in the NHL currently then he is not a future top 6 forward in the NHL. Plus 3rd line time will teach him defensive responsibilities.

God no, Strome isn’t someone I’d trade anything of value for. As someone who watches the Hawks when the Sabres aren’t playing; he is someone who is everything we don’t want. His skating is suspect, he has only produced when with Debrincat, and is at best Reinhart lite. He’s going to want too much money and in the end there is no way I’d trade our 1st plus for him.

If he wants more than 5x5 i wouldnt have interest. But Buffalo has forwards to surround him with that can produce with him and he is a stop gap for a year or 2 till Cozens takes over

usually you try to shelter 19 year olds with veterans. not plugs from chicago and guys who struggle to adjust to the NHL game.

Not just stop gap, but allows Cozens to develop at his own pace. Not rushing him into situations he may not be able to succeed in right away.

Again, he'd be, by far the best pk player on the Sabres, he isnt a scrub. Idk a single person that watches him play that would call him a scrub

8oa is going to be Holtz, who is the same as Strome except Holtz is a winger and 2 or 3 years out with no guarantee hes an NHLer. Youre buying a guarantee and getting a pk forward that they desperately need with Montour, whos value is not very high and Pilut who isnt worth anything currently and will never return to the Sabres

Due respect, but you do bring up a big problem with a lot perceptions with player value these days. From buffalo’s perspective, they do need to start going for it for the sake of Eichel and strome is at least an established player. Buffalo can’t guarantee themselves that 8OA will be an NHLer, even in a deep draft, making the pick somewhat expendable.

Problem I have is that I absolutely do not agree with this kind of thinking. In no way do I disrespect of think less of those who believe the opposite. Lots of fans believe the most value lies in those who are “proven” NHLers over good young prospects. However, I believe the only true way to grow a team is in the draft. I believe in giving your picks time to grow. I believe in putting faith in youth.

I get that buffalo has to get moving for the sake of Eichel, but I wouldn’t go trading the 8OA in this fee draft just for strome. You could probably fetch even more with the value you put into this trade. I wanna see buffalo start to thrive again, just don’t risk losing out on this draft unless it’s for someone very special.

Im not sold on Holtz, i liked him before but his flaws are nearly the same as Strome, except Strome is already a producing NHLer. The Sabres are not taking Askarov or Sanderson, which leaves Lundell. Im personally not a fan of Finnish produced players and again youre dealing with a player that has the potential to be what Strome already is. After the first 5 forwards go off the board the prospect talent starts tanking. Holtz is not a player the Sabres need and Lundell is not a top 10 player. The Sabres are better off trading it

Big difference between strome and holtz though is that holtz has possibly the best or 2nd best shot in the draft class. Yes, his skating needs more work, but it has taken great strides over the course of the year. I agree with you on askarov and Sanderson. As for lundell, I dislike lundell not because I dislike Finnish players, I actually love Swedish and Finnish players, but I dislike him cuz I see too much of kotkaniemi in him. I really, really, don’t like kotkaniemi.

If the Sabres would actually be willing to make a trade like this with the hawks, hey, I’m all for it. I’m not a big fan of strome because I’m much of a fan of big bodies in hockey. I’m very much a speed and skill fan. Strome is most likely gonna be gone either in the next few months or within the next year given what the hawks may take in the draft too.

Sabres have Olofsson Skinner and Reinhart though already, they need a playmaking center not a shoot first winger. If they have all of the same flaws Strome fits their needs better.

The problem with these Sabres proposals is the Hawks don't need any defenseman from the Sabres unless they are a bonafide top line or top line prospect. Pilut is definitely not that and there is not a chance Hawks have any interest in Montour. The 8th pick is great but you'll have to add a prospect or solid role player up front to make this trade happen.

Can't understand for the life of me why every single Sabres trade proposal includes their defenseman when it's clear if you stop and understand the other team's needs the Hawks have zero need or interest. One of the reasons we shipped Jokiharju out of town is because we have a logjam, just on the right side alone we have Mitchell, Boqvist, Murphy, Seabs, Regula and the left side is even worse besides a clearcut top line guy. As such, Dahlin is the only defenseman on the Sabres we would be interested which is not happening so...

Pilut would challenge Mattaa. The reason why he left Buffalo is because he deserved a spot and wasnt given one nor given a decent chance by his coach to win a spot this year. Hes an NHLer and as I stated, would challenge maatta for his spot. Hes also a complete throw in. Mitchell hasnt played a pro game yet and Regula is a couple years out. Montour is miles ahead of Seabrook. Plus when you factor in expansion, keeping Regula and Mitchell down for the year is free protection. Murphy is good, can he give you a full season? Hasnt that been Chicago's problem lately?

Maatta was only a stop gap and either him or De Haan will be traded or Maatta bought out. Why? Because on the left the Hawks have Carlsson, Beaudin, Koekko, Gilbert, Seeler who are cheaper and Carlsson and Keokko have already shown they are better then Maatta and Beaudin given the chance likely is as well. We have zero need for Pilut.

Regarding Montour, we have zero need or space for a $3.4M D guy. Mitchell is more pro ready then Boqvist and will be in the lineup. Mitchell and Regula are automatically protected for the expansion draft....every ELC is. Regula is a year or two away true. Murphy had a back injury in 18/19 and this season missed just under two weeks for a groin injury...not really a big deal missing a week or two. He's easily way better the Montour as is Boqvist and Mitchell more then likely. Montour isn't miles ahead of Seabs....better over the last couple seasons sure, but Seabs has been putting surgery needed for torn labrums in both hips which he had down in Jan and Feb...we'll see when he gets back. Bottom line, with Boqvist, Mitchell, Murphy, Seabs and regula....Hawks have zero interest in picking up a $3.4M Montour.

Again, the Hawks have zero need for a bottom 4 defensive guys. It's been said over and over on here.
