I was just thinking Detroit is one Jeff Petry away from the playoffs.....

Yep, you're on the right track with a 1st and a 2nd for Petry, but never with Detroit. I get that you choose them because he's from there but the 2nd this year is one spot away from being a 1st rounder and the 2021 pick will most likely be another top 5 pick. Petry doesn't even fit their needs or timeline. They are weak on the left side and they won't be good until he turns at least 35.

We'll get a 1st and a 2nd at the deadline next year if we decide to trade him but it will be from a contending team and the 2 picks will be late.

You forgot to add in KK, Domi, romanov, mete, primeau, Fleury, caufield, Suzuki and montreals first this year

Some of these moves are pretty good, I like to see what the roster could look like if we decide to move on from Tatar and Petry. I’m not opposed to giving Poolparty a chance but I’d probably rather take Kovy for a year and then run with Gally, Caufield, Armia in 21.

If we move Tatar it would be nice to try and obtain a solid offensive RHD prospect even if it meant we didn’t get a first round pick.

If the Sergachev offer sheet doesn’t work then we will just have to be patient and let the young guys like Norlinder and Struble develop in hopes of becoming a top 4.
