Winnipeg keeps Copp and just resigns DeMelo. I truly believe that Copp is severely underrated. He is the best defensive forward on the Jets. The exact type of guy you want as your 3rd line centre.

This team is definitely better but too much for Cirelli both in assets and contract. Also better to keep Cozens in Junior if you are just throwing him on the 4th line

Sorry meant to have him on the 3rd line. Too lazy to fix

Pretty sure I saw a 5×$8.4M to Cirelli on here the other day and it wasn't an offersheet, is he really worth the contracts he's being offered on here?

No way. Very good 2 way center but likely not gonna get you more than 50-60 points in a season. I would say 8.4 is too high even if he were UFA. Anyhow that is what Aho just signed for and he is way better

Cirelli is better than Aho. His defensive impacts as a 22-23yo forward are like Super elite

Says who? If it is a Sabres reporter it’s a lie. No need for him at his cap hit

Aho defensive point shares are just behind that of Cirelli and his offensive point shares are nearly 3 x that of Cirelli. While Cirelli may be slightly better defensively he is nowhere near the offensive player who is

Tampa declines, as they have little interest in giving up their very good 2C for a lottery ticket, maybe 3rd pairing defenseman and a player that hasn't lived up to his billing(and the type of player Tampa already has several of for their bottom 6). None of these pieces help a team focused on winning now really improve, so it's an easy no from Tampa. The only way Tampa listens on this trade is if the 1st isn't lotto protected or if a high quality young player/prospect is the center piece(so basically Jokiharju or Cozens). Tampa would be looking for a return that helps them right away next year, and this isn't it.

Sir that’s the 7th or 8th overall pick.

I’m curious... what does a deal around Jokiharju look like?

While the 7th or 8th pick is nice to be sure, I'm not convinced the players available there will help Tampa in 20-21. It's possible though. When I said lotto protected, I meant more of a top 3-5 pick, and in that case, Buffalo would be better suited keeping the pick most likely. Jokiharju is a great young dman and would be nice to have, but I think he'd have to be protected in the ED. I didn't think about that when I mentioned him, and that puts Tampa in a bind because they'd have to expose either him, Cernak(if he's not moved), or Foote. Not that Tampa wouldn't consider him, but I still believe they would target Cozens first as he helps replace the loss of Tampa's 2C(lesser role next year but also down the line) and wouldn't have to be protected. I still think Tampa keeps Cirelli, but this sort of base would likely be required if Brisebois considered moving him. Not sure what the trade would exactly look like, but Cozens(or Jokiharju maybe) and a 2nd for Cirelli. The picks/adds can be tweaked as needed but Tampa would be looking for a strong return if they consider moving him.
