Remove the 3rd rounder and it's closer

Also you'd have to remove Kapanen at least

Please edit the Ryan strome trade, guys the worst player in the nhl away from panarin, I rather have any NHL player in the world then him. Plus we are overpaying for him anyway, shouldn't be more then a 7th round pick.

Rasmussen will have a better career then him, so that's def a no no no with a side order of hell ****ing no to strome

Rangers trade is as fair as they come.

Both Fils and that 2nd rounder are overpay for just Marner...unless TOR wants to absorb a nice chunk of salary

No he doesn't... 33 pts (18 G)in 63 games last year playing with average top sixers is bad I guess?

He has 34 pts in 17-18 playing with Khaira and AHLer JP, he doesn't suck.

You'd be right to say that he's clearly better with Panarin than without but saying he sucks without him is a plain lie stop fooling yourself

Rasmussen is better than him lol. Now that is rich. Kid isn't even an NHLer yet and was struggling in the AHL...solid analysis from you.

He was not struggling in the ahl last year at all, he took huge strides if you watched any games or read anything on him, before he got hurt he was playing great. He was only in the nhl before because he couldn't be sent to ahl in his rookie year. He will be a solid 3C for wings in a year or so. Strome will never be a wings thank God you aren't the GM. I'd literally take any player over that bust

I mean, that's what it would cost. You can call it an over payment of you want but Toronto has no reason to do it for less, especially because the trade would make them worse right now when they are trying to contend in a trade off for the future.

Would it make them worse right now? Top pairing Dman on the right side? Top 6 winger with tons of potential (playing with Matthews)? Saving well over $10M in cap space to supplement that atrocious D and bottom 6?

They aren't really contending, despite what the media likes to say. Bottom line is that is an absurd overpayment, which is why that would never happen. TOR would probably never do it either way, but Mo and Zadina is a silly ask.

Because those players are not what you say they are right now, maybe in a year or 2, but not now.
And yes, the leafs are contending right now. You dont need to be a top 3 team to be contending

Hronek is a top pair Dman, right now. Zadina will be in the NHL next year, and a top-6 pick playing with Matthews has a good chance of scoring many goals, right now.

They are hardly contending right now. Defense needs a lot of work. PIT, BOS, TB, WSH, CAR...all better teams (and that's just the East).

We were talking about seider not hronek and zadina might be in the NHL next year but most guys like him dont step into a top line role right away
The leafs are worse after that trade for at least 2 seasons.
As far as hronek being a top pair defender now.....he isnt

"Salary absorption".. this wouldnt be a salary move, that would be a move so detroit would get their best winger since Hossa.. 2021 1st, Zadina and Seider is expected value back for Leafs.

It would very much be a salary move for the Leafs. That is not expected value, that is an absurd ask. The Leafs could very well say no to any offer they like but no way would any GM realistically ask Stevie for two top-6 picks (one being what looks like a stud RH #1 D) and ANOTHER lottery pick for $10M Marner.
