Don’t see why chicago would ever consider that.

The secret is out on donato. He’s horrible.

VAN decline, they can just sign a cheap backup if they can't get Markstrom signed. But Markstrom will be re-signed.

I think the only way Donato may end up being worth his draft position is if he's given a top-6 spot. He put in 14 goals while averaging less than 11 minutes per night -- 5 more than the next closest players seeing similar ice time.

Ya, but the problem is he’s terrible at hockey. I’ve seen him play a lot. He’s just brutal.

Money in money out means this is an even cheaper option than your cheap backup. I wouldn’t be so sure about Markstrom. The smart money would be letting him walk anyway.

Markstrom was the team MVP, the Canucks have patiently developed him to be a number 1, he is priority number 1 to re-sign.

I imagine Rangers fans would say similar things about Andersson. If the argument here is that the pick swap is an unnecessary part of the deal, I could maybe see that.

Not really. The thing against Lias is that he never got an opportunity...

Donato has another handful of games left in the league before he’s off to europe. That’s my guess.

Which will make for an interesting situation one year from now. I bet I can predict who Seattle will select from the Canucks in the expansion draft. At least he won't have to move.

He's only 22 years old. He's got a lot to learn and adjust to, but despite that, the raw talent, ability and skills necessary to become a top six winger are there.

Again, he was on pace for 18 goals while averaging 10 minutes a game.

He's got really good top-end speed, smooth skating skills, and a shoot first mentality with a nose for the net. The biggest knock against him was his woeful lack of defensive skills and being a defensive liability.

Guess what, since coming to MN he's been forced onto the lower lines with the understanding that he needed to work on his two-way game in order to succeed. To date, he has improved dramatically on that aspect, and given another season or two he'll be a fine top six guy in my book.

You're welcome to your opinion, but it's clear you have little to no understanding of how his progression has come along since he left Boston. That onus is on you. Perhaps the next time someone whose spent the last year and a half of watching him play and develop tries to tell you different, maybe consider listening to them. Just a thought.

Putting him on a line with Koivu and Hartman helped I think. I think Fiala also benefitted from being on Koivu's line and it got him to protect the puck better.

I’ve watched him. A lot. He has absolutely no clue of what to do without the puck. His compete level is low low low. His skill level is superb. He’ll always get his goals but he’s never going to help an NHL team win.

I've watched him a lot too, especially for the past year and a half. Like a damn hawk.

And, as we've been trying to tell you, that isn't the case anymore.

Cool. When he helps the minnesota wild start winning games on a regular basis, leave me a message. I wonder if the internet will still be a thing by then.

That will probably be when he switches to playing goalie. He'd have to be better than Dubnyk was this year.
