Description
Any interest in moving Jensen? What would you want the return to look like?

Just looking at guys who could potentially be decent, lower cap options on the right side because I'm not sure there is a seismic change with the Leafs this offseason.

honestly he was such a bad fit for us I would take the 4th and be happy cutting the cap.

If the Leafs threw another late pick in as well, do you think they'd retain 500k? Still save $2m in cap...

True, but with time to prepare for that, 500k shouldn't be much of an issue. Ovi probably makes less on his next deal too, don't you think? He'll be 36...

highly doubt it bc the capitals need to resign Vrana Samsonov Ovechkin.....too many people need resigned to eat any money. Jensen has some solid upside that a 4th is a great risk for a position of need imo

Bummer. It doesn't work for the Leafs without retention unless they move another player, which I was trying to avoid at this point... Maybe a team would be interested as a 3rd party.

Is Jensen better than any of the following, and remember that salary matters too :

    Dermott
    Sandin
    Holl
    Lehtonen

Based of his play this season, no.
Definitely no considering the assets we might to give to add him.

So depth is just unnecessary or...?

As a right side option, I'd say he's on par with those guys if you take into account more than just this past season.

A 2.5 million cap is probably a luxury Leafs cant afford.

Rosen and Marcinin are probably the 7 and 8 guys.

Which is why I was asking about the possibility of retention.

i saw someone post a 4th for him and I was okay with it. From what I remember he played top pairing with Detroit and was good there and sure his production dropped in washington but he is getting better defensively with them.

He can play with Rielly to have the following pairings

    Rielly-Jensen
    Muzzin-Holl
    Lehtonen-Dermott

Yeah, that's what I figured. Cheap option (both by trade and money) to play with Rielly. His best asset is his suppression, but he's also not an incapable puck mover like a Hainsey. Didn't do so great in Washington so maybe a change of scenery would help him bounce back.

i mean he went from the top pairing in Detroit to 3rd pairing in washington. Plus the capitals were not a great defensive team so there was that issue. In general he could do well and his cap hit is not that high. Only other guy I would suggest is lyubushkin as the recommendations for riellys partner is he needs to be a defensive defenseman.

Lyubushkin's a guy I would love to take a flier on, but there's no way I bring him in and expect him to pair with Rielly immediately. The guy has never played against tough competition for significant time. I also disagree that Rielly's partner needs to be a defensive Dman. I do like complementary pairings, so I would like that, but all kinds of pairings can have success. (As much as some people won't want to admit it, Rielly-Barrie crushed it last year when they were paired.
