Description

Stetcher allowed to go to FA but elects to resign at reduced price.
Smith - Lots of other UFA top 6 tweeners to pick from, I think some will sign for cheap in the upcoming market.
Hamonic looking to prove himself and stay in western canada.

St. Louis saves some cash on Dunn
Ottawa gets a cost controlled 20g scorer for a high 1st, Det gets a first, Canucks gain cap space.

Canucks should have aprox 20M in cap space the following year.

That’s a lot of salary to take on but Det can handle it. Would prefer Van retain a little or add another kicker like a 3rd or a prospect but I’d prob still accept with just the late 1st

You’re dead wrong on that one. Not every second rounder turns into Kucherov but way too overvalue them. Inferior players go for second rounders at the TDL all the time.

To get Pet to stay it won't be kids they shed, It'll be vets.
They'll auction the old guard off if needed for pucks, water-bottles and shiny urinal cakes in Brouwer (gone as UFA), Bozak, Steen, Jake Allen = about US$20M saved total.

Yeah, Dunn seems to be an underrated player on CF, even among some STL fans. I say keep Juolevi and get him some games this year on the 3rd pair, forget about the Staal trade and instead sign a half decent FA Dman to fill out the top 6. I like DeMelo if he comes at a reasonable price.

I get that, and it’s not a bad use of cap space for one year if you’re already happy with the rest of your active roster. I just don’t think a top 4 Dman will come as cheap as you’ve signed Hamonic for, so using an extra mill or two of the cap that Staal is taking up to sign a good Dman should be a priority for this team.

If Ottawa is trading that 1st for NHL help, they're probably aiming higher than Virtanen. Virtanen is good, but there are probably a dozen players who could be available with that pick who I think will be better.

Wings not accepting two years of 6 million cap hit for a 1st, which could be in the later teens or early 20s. Vancouver would. Eed to add either a mid to high prospect to unload 2 year contact for a player who is done by all measurables and would cost 12 million in cap.
