Your desire to spend huge dollars on an FA is problematic. Toffoli shouldn't get more than 4 million ever, from anyone. The difference between him and Kapanen is minimal. Never over pay depth, its what kills your cap.

gotta think that if Toffoli is willing to re sign for 5.25 Van would re-sign him even before FA. i think the only way he hits free agency is if the ask is more than 5.5 from Van... they just can't afford more than that
