Make it 8th overall and Suzuki and Florida says add, if Caufield is what you ad they say yes.

That’s an overpay to Columbus, plus we really don’t have much use for Lehkonen or Mete at this point. We’d probably be fine doing a Murray and Anderson for Poehling and 2nd trade anyways. No need to add more value, especially if it’s kinda unneeded and really not wanted by the other team.

For a 90pt 1C that is very good defensively and has 2 yrs remaining at under $6M, MTL is adding a quality piece like this years first not taking them away.

Not saying Suzuki and caufield are bad but you dont trade that kind of talent if its not an overpay that you just cant refuse. Plus, with barkov on the team, this 2021 pick is for sure out of the top 10 probably even out of the top 15.

Suzuki has the POTENTIAL to be a 70 pts player with a good 200ft game and Caufield has the POTENTIAL to be a 30-40 goal scorer but both arent there yet and both could never reach their full ceiling. Outside the top 10, the odds that a 1st round pick have a big impact on his team are not even 50%.

So if a team agree to let go an elite 25 years old 1C with one of the best contract in the league, MULTIPLE A grade prospects and high picks have to be involved + probably an already good NHL player who can somehow retake the role the elite superstar player had on his team.
