Very unlikely you're getting a 1st for Johnsson or Hyman. Even more from the same team. Nobody would ever trade 2x1st for two middle 6 fowards come on..

Second round picks are usually the going rate for 3rd liners at the trade deadline. Young, cost controlled, middle 6 talent with upside is first round value. As for the picks, don't matter where they come from Calgary was just the first team I clicked on

Then what's the point of doing a thread if you're butching it or doing stuff without a simple explanation like : any team, so we can understand.

If you look AT the last deadline market i agree some team would gave up a 1st for them but the market was crazy and overall, middle 6 fowards arent worth firsts if you look at most past years. With all the league should went trough in the next 2 years, trades will be rarer and big assets like 1st wont be moved easily. While they can help any team, Johnsson and Hyman will never have the same numbers without constantly playing with Marner/Tavares/Matthews/Nylander and teams know that.

So in a summer trade you wont ever get that and deadline trades it COULD happened but doesnt make any sense, leafs being a playoff team/ contenders and selling those guys in the middle of a season doesnt make anysense unless you're retooling, its more of a we give up message for the rest of the roster and the fans.

It does not make sense to trade Hyman. His skill set is unique, maybe not to the entire league, but certainly to this group, and considering he is a local kid and does excellent things in the community, I sense that the Leafs would like to sign him long term when he is due up for a new contract. I would keep Johnsson as well. In their stead, I would trade Nylander. His great 2019-20 season makes his contract look great, and the Leafs could acquire a bunch of future + young assets to save on cap space.

Good comment and very accurate, what a player could fetch at the TDL is very different from what they'd get in return in the summer or even mid-season, no way Johnsson gets a 1st for the Leafs and coming off his injuries I think the 2nd round picks I see on so many ACGMs where he's traded is a reach, he likely gets a 3rd round pick if the Leafs trade him in the offseason.

Barclay Goodrow got a 1st round pick back. Hyman for 1 year at 2.25 is absolutely worth a late 1st.
