Yeah it’s a pretty faire deal! It seem to benefit both team.

MTL does it. Edmonton waits and sees of Yamamoto is real and if Klefbom can play an entire season.

Makes sense for both teams, one of those "the timing has to be right" things

I think a big thing is the progression of Broberg. If oilers view their top 4 of:

Klefbom-Bouchard
Broberg-Bear

Then yeah it makes sense for both teams

What if Chiasson and Kulak are added to exchange lower teir depth in positions each team is giving up

They have Somorukov to that have been great for them on the left and Caleb Jones have been solid to. They are pretty deep on the left side

I like this trade, we are solid on LHD and Nurse is going to be overpriced on his next contract

The problem if that Kulak is brutal, at least Chiasson has some value to the oilers

I mean his numbers don't seem to suggest he is that horrible. Didn't look in depth though

This is a tough one for me. Domi is a great addition to the habs and can be locked up long term for a reasonable number which is very valuable to me. Nurse would help our D there’s no doubt but after his two years are up he’s going to look for big money and might not be worth it. Plus the Habs have some good LHD prospects coming up in the next couple years.

He has 2 years left on his current deal though, and his potential replacements aren't ready yet. Jones is clearly an NHLer but hasn't proved he's ready to move up yet. Good arrows so far, but he certainly isn't pushing Nurse for a 1LD job.

Samorukov and Broberg are 2 - 3 years away from top-4 work in the NHL. I'd say that Nurse's job won't be threatened until his current contract is finished, or nearly so.

There's no rush to move him. In fact, doing so now would be a huge mistake.

And I don't think Domi is enough of a return on his own anyhow.

I agree that we don’t have anybody ready right now to replace him but if we wait till the final year of his deal and it leaks that he wants let’s say 7-8M per on a new deal, then how many trading partners will we have. Domi isn’t the perfect player to trade for but the players I would like for Nurse we aren’t getting. I would personally love a deal with Kyle Conner in it, Oilers would need to add a bit and Jets fans will say no way
