If I was Columbus, I would just trade Wennberg for a 4th and 6th instead of taking a bad contract

Wennberg has a ton more value then Turris. Wennbergs buyout is only 500k and he’s making 1.1 less then Turris. Not a chance Columbus makes this trade without more compensation then a low end 2nd.

I mean the points stats might differ from this. Turris scores more with less ice time.

Wennberg is borderline elite defensively, 5 years younger, cheaper, easy buyout, and costs less AAV. Plus he has a higher upside right now considering their ages. Turris is really just a 40-50 pt middle six guy with way too much money and term. I would be peeved if Jarmo didnt demand much more back from Nashville.

Turris is also only going to get worse. We know Wennbergs floor is a 30 pt very good 2 way guy and he isnt going to get any worse before his contract ends

The reason is Columbus can’t afford him and keep others. If you antically looked you know that Turris is 1.1 mil more then Wennberg and his buyout is also much more expensive. Wennberg is fantastic defensively but not worth the 4.9 mil he’s being paid, but he’s closer to what he should be then Turris is at 6.0. Also Wennberg’s buyout is less then 500k so if Columbus isn’t going to get anything for him it’s better for them to buy him out vs trade him for a worse contract we can’t afford.

This is a scary team

hes not good offensively, and its frustrating to see considering he had a 60 pt season before. hes also overpaid for what he is and is taking space from one of our many youngsters. his contract is just much better than Turris's, and we would still have a very good PK without him

If Tomasino isn't ready for the NHL, this is a major failure. I'd also take that $1M you gave Wilson plus some and put it toward a veteran D for the 3rd pair.
