Jets trade isn't too far off value-wise in my opinion. I would however change the pick to a 3rd to make it a bit more accurate but not bad. Idk if the Jets pull the trigger but again, not a bad trade.

Value is pretty close, but I don’t see why the Jets would swap Kerfoot and Copp. Copp is our best defensive forward by far and is crucial to our forward group since our top-5 forwards are very weak defensively.

Hmm..is Kerfoot not better? Honest question.

Overall it's fair imo.

Look like the Leaf overpaid in the trades for on ice value, but needed to get rid of cap. Nice Job on the trades. At least the Leafs haven't been decimated on the forward group like so many posts.
Agree with you about the overpayment of DeMelo, but you are acknowledging the RHD fascination. If a Copp and DeMelo cost about 6.25m, Kerfoot and Dermot cost about 5.5m, maybe the Leafs are better to stick with the devil they know...if they can't get DeMelo at a reasonable $$/term

I think Kerfoot is a bit better offensively, but Copp is better defensively. So I guess they’re close, it’s just Copp fits the Jets better than Kerfoot would.

Ehlers is pretty good defensively as well, but yeah, Scheif Laine Connor and Wheeler aren't anything to write home about defensively

I looked at this way for reasoning, Dermott could fit well in there system long term and will Copp making more than 3.5 million?
And now the even deeper question, can you sign a D man cheaper than you can get Dermott, at likely less than 3 million on a bridge deal, while adding Kerfoot at 3.5 with term.

For the Leafs this is addressing needs by having to part with mid level pieces.

Only thought of this with KHL D man signing.
The one thing I am lost on what happens with Leafs goal tending after next season
