I have nothing about this AGM to say, but how does a guy like Justin Holl get a No Trade Clause? Guy played 13 games before this year and is 28

and on that same line of thought how did he get 2x3 when the team has liljegren to play the bottom pairing, and he isn't good enough to be a top 4 on a contending team?

2 million isn't prohibitive. i just dont understand how teams have allowed all these clauses to be handed out. it ends up hurting a lot of teams.

it's pretty tough for Toronto to fit in that 2 mil though. It wouldn't be a problem for many teams, but we don't have the 2M to spend on him, and he has limited trade options. Not a good combo

Because that clause was necessary or else he would have gone as UFA. 2m inexpensive for a RHD....the best RHD the Leafs had. So many Leafs fans (and others) think overpaying for guys like DeMelo and Colin Miller is the solution....but Holl is a dependable Dman.

He is good enough to be a top 4 defenseman on a contender

Holl is a dependable defenseman who has played top 4 minutes all year because of the injury. He was very productive with Muzzin. He can play top 4 minutes for the leafs if you pair him with Muzzin.
He is probably one of the most underrated players on the leafs

he's a very good third pairing guy, but by no means is a good enough top 4 on a contending team

Lol what. Look at Holls stats in February. He was playing 22 minutes a night along with Muzzin and had a +4. While only getting. And that was when Freddy was playing terrible. He had a 8.97 save percentage on 5 on5. He is a very good top 4 dman

People think Holl isn’t worth his contract cuz he barely played last year but he was very misused by Babcock and was hands down one of the leafs best d before his contract.

If u look at the numbers Holl and Muzzin were an excellent pairing. Critics may argue muzzin is doing most of the work but every time I see Holl on the ice I see a guy who gives it his all every single night. Sure he struggles at times but honestly he earned that contract

Holl was helping a lot too. One defender can't do it on their own. And he even played with Marincin or Sandin some times when Muzzin was injured and still was excellent

Holl is directly responsible for a blown coverage on a goal at least once per game. Babcock was right not to trust him. 5-7 Dman.

And Dubas had always overpaid his RFA's by at least 1/2 to 1 million per player.
