Marner will never be traded as he is a franchise player for the Leafs which @MitchMarnerElite would obviously agree.

Why on earth would NHL allow teams to use CBO on players that are not in their roster when the potential approval that for is given? That's just f*cked up.

If that is not cap circumvention, I don't know what is.

They were already salty about what WSH did with Orpik back in the day, and a move such as this would far exceed it...

Bobrovsky refuses to waive his NMC just to be bought out. Leafs ownership/management don't think Ekblad is worth 47m to waste and even the trade value isn't that great.
Leafs could use a CBO on 3.4m Johnsson.
Hawks prefer Debrincat, Nylander and the pick and all that 4.5m cap space instead of Marner.

He’s not a franchise player, but they can’t trade him because Matthews is gonna leave for Arizona in 2025 & Marner will be the captain.

Who do you guys think is the better player between Mitch Marner & Alex DeBrincat (not factoring in salary)?

Totally different player but overall Marner. That said, there is $4M difference in cap hit.

I was looking at their numbers & it seems DeBrincat is only the better goal scorer. He only has 2 more years left, gonna get paid big money on his next deal.

That's all true yes, but Cat will not get a $11M contract. He's a pure sniper goal scorer for the most part while Marner is a playmaker; playmakers should make more then snipers.

Marner is better and it's not close. Marner 67 points in 59 games... DeBrincat 45 points in 70 games

Nylander 26 points in 65 games.

Florida wants to drop 10M in salary. CBO you still have to pay for the contract.

I think you and I agree to disagree on some points but I agree with you that Marner will be the next captain of the Leafs.

I think if Matthews and Tavares were not on the team that alot of fans would start to realize that Marner is rightfully a franchise player so I guess I am disagreeing with you on this point.Marner helps everyone that he plays with put up career point records on every team he plays on.

He wouldn't have as many achievements if he didn't have a star center to play with.

That could be true, but from what I remember, Marner played 33 games on a line with Kadri in 2017-18 & scored 36 points. That would’ve been a 90 point pace through 82 games, so no doubt the potential is there.
