and he's only been a ppg 3/10 seasons

So we're replacing Heinen and Rowney, both proven NHLers, with Hawryluk and Zykov, both of whom aren't, instead of leaving things as is and bringing up Max Comtois? Never mind the draft picks -- no thanks.

Adding Hall only makes sense if you're then going to trade Rakell for a first-class defenseman or first-round draft pick (instead of moving him over to RW).

We'd much prefer a 2020 third for a 2022 second. That might almost change my mind about trading Heinen at all.

Please no more HALL deals especially insane over-terms/over-pays at 7yrs @ US$10Mil per. That's certifiable!

I doubt it. Sweeney offered Heinen for Jujhar Khaira at the deadline and Holland declined.

Exactly. Why should the Oilers pay more now? Not only that, but there's his $1.2M cap space to think about too.

Who else isn't a PPG player over their career......

Pastarnak
Bergeron
Marchand
Marner
Toews
Tavares

Yet they're probably all in the same grouping of skill level.

Probably have a top 10 D core in the league when healthy. A top 5 goalie and at least an above average forward core. Not sure how you see this team as "rebuilding" .

You're not looking at this correctly.

You're replacing Heinen and Rowney with Max Jones and Troy Terry.

Whats the point of have either of the above 4 players playing 10 minutes a night on the 4th line....

and "proven NHLers" lol cmon man. Do you want me to give you a list of all the garbage "proven NHLers" there are. Both those players are low risk contracts saving about $2M for cap space (allocated to Taylor) Hall) who can prove themselves on the 4th line against other 4th line caliber players. Still have the opportunity they can grow and have shown they're at the minimum "NHLers"

Over the prime of his career he's a ppg player.

You're essentially saying....

Pastarnak
Bergeron
Marchand
Marner
Tavares

aren't expected to produce a ppg

WHAT? This doesn't even make sense. So your going to cherry pick which years are "prime years" now. As far as your list goes...

Bergeron is not a P/GP player and past his prime

Marchand has been a P/GP player for the last 4 years, so I'd call that consistent

Pasta has been a P/GP player the last 3 seasons and is close to a P/GP for his career

Marner a p/gp player in the last 2 of 4 seasons (close)

Guys like Crosby, Geno and Ovie are consistent P/GP players.

Over the past 7 years (his prime years, by your own admission) Hall has averaged 22 goals and 60 points per season. You want to pay him $10M per year for 7 more years of declining production in his early- to mid-thirties? That seems I little high to me.

You seem to misunderstand the term "replace." "Replace" means that they're added to the team when two other guys are sent away. When you send away Heinen and Rowney, and Hawryluk and Zykov are added to the team, then Hawryluk and Zykov are replacing Heinen and Rowney. Jones and Terry don't replace Heinen and Rowney, they play on different lines and all four are eminently capable NHLers, while Hawryluk and Zykov have proven that they are not. In short, you are trading away two players and adding two players whom you admit "can prove themselves on the fourth line." We're not interested in experimenting with guys who "can" prove themselves capable NHLers; we've got guys who have already proven that. And by the way, DesLauriers plays exclusively on LW and Sherwood will never play a minute at center on the Ducks.

Since you display a certain unfamiliarity with our team, here's how we currently line up:

Rakell-Henrique-Silfverberg
Milano-Getzlaf-Heinen
Jones-Steel-Terry
DesLauriers-Backes-Rowney

You should also know that management has an internal cap that is lower than $81.5 million.

You forgot to include Taylor Hall in your lineup ...

One of those top 9 need play on the 4th line and those contracts don't fit under the cap with Taylor Hall on the roster. So you'd probably have to trade someone like hmmm Rowney and Heinen to make him fit. Crazy

This is about the way I'd construct the team with a Taylor Hall signing as mentioned in the title of my team.

Zykov and Hawryluk help keep the team stay under the cap and can play in 4th lines roles. As they're on the 4th line.

BTW you can see how every team lines up here https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/anaheim-ducks/line-combinations/ smile

So they're like what, 5 consistent ppg players in the league right now lol You're talking about a totally different level of skill. The players I mention is where I see Hall roughly at which is why I can see him getting up to $10M. Those guys would be around McDavid's salary

That's fair. I'd probably offer him around 9. I think if the cap was going to go up as planned he'd easily get $10M from some team but maybe not anymore

I'm talking about consistent p/gp players. By definition:

"acting or done in the same way over time, especially so as to be fair or accurate."

If you're putting up p/gp 90%+ of the time that's consistent. Hall has had a p/gp in 4 of his 10 seasons...40% is not consistent. Spare me the Prime stuff too because it's a weak argument. He had a 3yr stetch of non P/GP play between his two back to back p/gp seasons.
